If nothing else, I need a little time off of the site.

Fair enough, maybe you should take a long break and come back from a new perspective? Either way, rational or irrational I think I get what you mean now. :/
Orannis I'm not sure if you remember me at all, but I felt the exact same way you did, I just got to that point a whole lot sooner. I stopped posting regularly around August of last year, I had a relatively short run on the site, but loved every moment of it. Now when I come back I don't get any of that "feeling" that I did last January when I made my account. I hate to tell but you now that you have gotten to the point your at you will never be able to get back to the way things were, the site will never make you feel the way it did. You seem to have run your course, just as I did.

Shit man, of course I remember you.

Frankly, I reached the point where the site stopped being the same a while ago, but I just realized how much I over reacted, I made a thread about it and everything.

I wasn't expecting to see you again though, still lurking?

I still have this site as my home page, but I hardly ever look at what's going on. I post a few times a month and watch some vids but thats about it. Max's banning was the end of an era for me, thats when I noticed all the big names and personalities had left and in came the dullness.

I keep on telling myself to get back into posting here, but usually just have one solid day of posting followed by a couple weeks of no activity.

It's kind of sad, really.

Funny, you're not the first to point to Max's banning as the turning point, Pimppeter is pointing to that as well, and I feel that things changed after then too.

Anyway, I sort of doubt that I'll do what you're doing, I'm too much of an attention whore :) I'll either keep doing what I do now or become too busy and stop altogether. I could be wrong, of course, but I feel I've already passed the point where The Escapist lost the meaning it used to have.

Most of the people leaving are long time posters who are watching the Escapist undergo a change that they see as negative.
Okay, but what changes are you talking about exactly? (Obviously including this premium thing)
No changes from my perspective, but the elitism and senseless aggression that forms a lot of the replies on the forums does start to get grating after while, as does the whole "in-crowd" thing which premium membership is in many ways (although unintentionally I believe) promoting.

I think the site deserves support for how good it is, but seeing as the above causes me to occasionally give up with it I am very much on the fence with this one.

I imagine those outright leaving are just giving into self-righteousness or overreacting to something that really isn't that big a deal.

I have been wondering where the hell you were. To be honest the same has happened to me, usually about a week or so of being on here regularly then a couple of weeks without posting at all. I do think things have changed significantly since Max left, although not in a good or bad way, people just hero worship other users instead.
