Request: Please spoiler spoilers, this is intended to pique people's interest in the game as well as begin a discussion of it, don't ruin the experience for others
[sub][sub]Okay, a disclaimer: A large portion of this is going to sound like shameless plugging and it pretty much is but I'm in no way involved with the game, just a big fan of it and want more people to experience it. Attempting to do it in a fairly self-aware way but if it comes across as a bit much then I'll happily tone it down a few notches. If you're a tl;dr kind of person and you've played the game before then skip to the bolded part or the final two bolded lines if you are in a real hurry.[/sub][/sub]
So, it's that time again, To the Moon is on steam sale and so I need to restart my preaching to the uneducated masses. (I'd like to add here that it's also available on GoG for those of you who like your games to be steam free)
Currently for £2.37 (or your regional equivalent) you too can own and play one of the best story driven games that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. My own words pale in comparison to the writing in this game and it's one of those games where pretty much anything about it, other than the synopsis you are given, is a spoiler (How do I explain why it?s brilliant without spoiling what makes it so?) so I'll cheat and quote the game description:
The emotional moments of the game are underscored by a beautiful soundtrack which heightens and adds weight to the scenes.
I would like to point out here for prospective buyers that this is a story experience so gameplay is alittle lot on the limited side and that the game will last you approximately 3 hours (that's the time it took me) if you play in one sitting.
As for my personal experience of it: I picked it up while it was cheap in last year's steam thanksgiving sale having heard a lot of praise for it on these very forums. I've been singing its praises ever since.
The gameplay is/was very much on the "...eh" side but the story and the characterization was fantastic.
I'm not usually one for getting emotionally connected to game characters (Walking Dead didn't do much for me) but I'm not ashamed to say that I cried like a complete baby for pretty much the entire final act. The game music is currently on my music playlist and is still quite charged for me months after playing it.
I know from other threads (particularly the Crit-Miss one a while back where people were suggesting that Grey should play it) that a few of you have played it so I'm interested to hear what your experience of it was. Even (especially? Possibly) if it was negative.
If you pick the game up this sale (particularly if after reading this thread) then I'm interested to see what you thought of it too.
Edit: Editing in here to say that the sale offer has now ended (Well, it's currently still up but the timer has elapsed so it'll be gone soon) just in case the thread title doesn't update.

Now, you might think from that description that you know where the game is going to go. You think that it's going to be like one of those sappy movies where they play off the fact that someone is dying in an attempt to garner sympathy, you'd be wrong.Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning... but only in their patients' heads.
Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfil what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn't.
This particular story follows their attempt to fulfil the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.
And Johnny's last wish is, of course... to go to the moon.
