I watched the Grudge when i was younger, god.....every time i'm in an empty hallway or its dark i imagine that damned girl is right behind me.
I think that this is a major reason for fear of the dark. People have simply gotten used to having everything lit up for them. Darkness has become less common, perhaps even mysterious to some. This naturally intrigues some and scares off the rest.Juven Ignus said:This fear seems obsolete to me since most places now that lights keep the night lit up until daybreak.

Theres a light pole outside my window, I'm still afraid because it doesn't light up my room in the dark.Juven Ignus said:But that's the point. Nowadays, lights are just about everywhere you look. So why be scared?bernthalbob616 said:I think it's because you can't see what's going on around them. It's fairly disorientating.
Cause you don't know whats in the dark, the dark itself doesn't scare anyone (at least I don't think so). Personally i have a fear of water (not like showering, or bathing or swimming but the ocean), Its something about what can lurk there, I don't know what could be in it and I absolutely hate my lack of control in the water. (at least i doubt my ability to out maneuver anything that live in it)Juven Ignus said:What is it about darkness that strikes fear in people? As far as I can remember, I've never feared it nor found a reason to. It's just dark, it can't hurt you, all that happens is just some low visibility. This fear seems obsolete to me since most places now that lights keep the night lit up until daybreak.
So tell me Escapists, why do you fear the darkness?
That is ridiculous.mycpuamnts said:Science is racist. Things are bad when it's dark and black, but when things are bright and white everything is ok.scrambledeggs said:Darkness is nothing but the absence of light, no need to be afraid.

A very good point.bernthalbob616 said:I think it's because you can't see what's going on around them. It's fairly disorientating.
lol, blame the linguists and the direct influence of the bible for that one, not science. =Pmycpuamnts said:Science is racist.
