What kind of things do you remember growing up that your older sibling terrorized you with? Such as telling you you were adopted or were born with a tail. My sister told me there was a "poo poo monster" in the toilet that will grab you while your doing #2. Needless to say this kept me from being potty trained for quite some time.

My elder sister used to tell me my dad was not actually my dad. She was a vindictive ***** and liked torturing me with it. Unfortunately I grew up to find out it was true and that my mother and step-father had been lying to me the entire time.

My brother took great glee in scaring the shit out of me by jumping out from around corners and the like. My sister partook of this pastime as well, but a lot of it was my brother. To this day I'm a jumpy, twitchy person. Just someone calling my name when I'm not paying attention makes me a deer in the headlights.

And I was a tomboy (I wasn't really into sports but I damn near shaved my head, played video games (early '90s, not necessarily a no-no but girls weren't supposed to enjoy it as much as boys), and preffered watching X-Men to My Little Pony, so my sister used to make fun of me saying that I wanted to get my sex changed.

Not many anecdotes from me... my sisters were nice to me when we were kids... though the older one tended to be rather grumpy, but that was with everyone. The other had (and still has) the attitude of a hippy.

I'm going to be the black sheep here. My older brother didn't terrorize me. Sure there were something that he did that I didn't like. The most we ever did was an odd prank war and they never got out of hand.

My older cousin who I used to live with when I was little, told me that if I didn't do things for her (like get her a drink) that she would die.

As the oldest of three siblings, I can only smile with glee at the stories contained within.

My favorite was 'scare the balls off the youngspawn with loud noises', but 'claiming [x] was really my possession, you just forgot' is great for siblings old enough to understand conversational expectations but not old enough to just realize you're just full of shit.

And, of course; Tickling.

in hgihschool I was scared of my sister

no seriously

we were polar oposites..she was an out spoken party animal..I was shy and quiet as a mouse (and a tomboy)

she was the embodiement of all my insecurites and fears...the Idea that THAT was what you were supsoed to be like to be happy...I was frightened in her presance, if SHE said somthing or took the piss then it got to me..because I belived it, she had a vindictive streak, I would literally be paranoid if she came into my room because anything..ANYTHING she could cirticise..I was scared of her criticising what I liked..who I was freinds with..what would wear...what I was going to do

actually somthing of a symbolic moment....I always hated my hair style, I always wore it tied up..plain aa..then I got a hair cut with a fringe and I liked to wear it tied up with the fringe out...this was a big deal because I NEVER changed my hair (it was a psychlogical thing) this was me stepping out and doing somthing new.....then one day we were out and my sister was like "here" and pinned it back with a bobby pin (back to square 1 lookig how I did before)..mum could see my look of disapointment, to which my sister said to her "well?! do you want her to look like a freak?!"

BAM..that one statment totally crushed me, dont try anything new...dont do anything...because you look like a freak...it took me a while to get over that one

and then I grew up and realised she was just a dumbass humaning beling like the rest of us (its ok were fine)

while Im over that...thease days I somtimes hate being around my sisters/familiy...I still feel restricted..I couldnt go out..make new frends or have a relationship...or anything out of charachter because it would be subject to their pisstaking...(I know its not serious) but I feel "restricted" in some horrible way

My older brother bought our first ps2, so he used to not let me use it simply to annoy me. Also did the whole "you're adopted" thing, but seeing as I'm the image of my father and I have a twin, it din't work too well. He liked being purposefully obnoxious just to get a rise as well. Then there were just standard beatings :p

on 9/11 my sister lied to me saying we were being invaded, that there were hundred more planes in the air and they were crashing them into peoples houses.

Suffice to say (i was at school the entire day, ergo no news axcess save what little info the teachers told us) I spent the majority of the day hiding underneath the kitchen table until I learned otherwise.

Heh, I also managed to have a spiteful older sister, she stole a lot of my stuff and even now likes to try and control people to fit her perfect mould of a perception. More recently i've discovered that a lot of the reason she seemed high strung and angry is down to mental illness of various sorts which may run quite strong in my family.

In general for this topic I come across as the oldest despite being the 2nd, I am by far the tallest and bulkiest of my siblings and I naturally speak in a slow deep semi monotone which seems to convince people I am older than I am. All the rest of them are quite loud and prone to getting into arguments and in the case of my youngest brother having fits and tantrums. All of them have dug chunks of my skin out with their teeth or nails, or spat in my face or just plain screamed at me for whatever reason. This has left me as quite a quiet person who tends to default into being an immovable wall in response to things like this.

There was also this vague idea growing up that I may hurt one of them badly (because I would never react to anything up until the point I was ready to destroy them) and so whenever I was the one who was angry I was seperated and because my parents were more "well what they do to him?" whenever it one of them who was angry, I have lots of little scars for my trouble.

I'm sure my siblings have stories of how I wasn't the best older brother either so I generally try not to judge. In recent years i've had some conversations about things we regret about our shared childhood which has softened some things, I speak very little to most of them now though.

Thanks for reminding me off my sister-less status, OP.

Depending on your age I will trade either of mine for a nicely baked cake and some exotic drinks in the sunshine.

Subject to their approval of course *innocent*.

My sister and I never really went the "sibling rivalry" route. Perhaps it was because we were (and are still) polar opposites and I avoided her quite a bit. She had better things to do than annoy me, and I didn't want any confrontation. It worked out fairly well, though our relationship now is fairly distant.

I be twenty-years-old.

I always thought it would be cool to have an older sister to hang out with and do the cliche stuff you see in the movies.

Well, he punched me while holding a billiard ball once. And then there was the one time he chased me around a department store and shoved me over into a table. And then there was that time where he was a massive dick and a parasite that's never given anything back to the world- oh wait, that's all the time. My mistake.

It makes me sound like a terrible person, I'm sure, but I don't believe in inherent unconditional love. The only thing that connects us is biological, so to be completely honest, when I get the call that he's died of heart disease or something (since he eats nothing but fast food and never exercises), the first thing I feel will be a bit of shock, which will fade into relief. Because karma's a *****, whether you're my brother or not.
