I felt a massive wave of release when I finished Quantum of Solace, knowing I would never have to touch it again.

I also felt like crying with joy when I finally got rid of Dark Sector.
Me too! Are you a gamefly subscriber as well? I often receive games only to find out they're mediocre then force myself to play it through to the end anyway.

Nope, I just have tasteless family members and friends.

PS: I want HL ep 3!!!, enough with your left for dead, bring freeman back! Agree or no?
It will be done when it's done. Telling Valve to hurry the fuck up won't help anyone and will just make you even more impatient.
That's true, just give Valve all the time they need and before you know it they'll release "Duke Nukem Forever".

I mean Half Life 2 Episode 3. Sorry for the mistake, I tend to get those two titles confused.
By comparing Episode 3 to Duke Nukem Forever, your suggesting that it will never be released. And that makes no sense. The wait for Episode 3 is nothing compared to how long people have been waiting for Duke Nukem Forever. Many of Valve's other products have taken much longer to complete than Episode 3 has (so far).

It's not like Valve is just going to abandon their must successful franchise.

Hmmmm......a company's most famous franchise does tend to suggest they will come back to making a game based on the franchise. I mean, you have a bad ass character that is awesome at using guns running around and killing monsters that has developed such a fan base screaming for more and you realize it'd be idiotic to not continue making sequels to it.

But enough of talking about "Duke Nukem Forever" again. You're right, it was wrong for me to compare the two games.

I still haven't even beaten the original Half-Life 2, and I bought it only a few months after release. Never gotten past the first Canal levels when playing solo, but I did play co-op with some friends through to getting the Gravity Gun (via the excellent Synergy mod). That was good times.

With the rate I'm going, I should be finished with Half-Life 2 around the time the next Episode Three screenshots surface.

You're suggesting that Valve and 3D Realms have both had the same success as game developers.

It's been only 2 years since Episode 2 was released. I honestly can't believe that you're comparing it to Duke Nukem Forever.

I'd agree with that statement, yes.

Well that simply isn't true.

Again, it's only been about 2 years since Episode 2 was released. Considering it's going to be the end of the Half-Life 2 saga, I'm not surprised that it's taking so long.

Just forget about Episode 3. The more you complain about it not being released, the harder it is going to be waiting for it.

yes but they really should say "WERE WORKING ON IT GOD DAMMIT! STOP RUSHING US! WE WILL FINISH L4D OR SOME SHIT BEFORE GIVING IT TO YOU!!!!" its making us impatient because instead of giving us development progress, they give us left 4 dead.... they should really tell us what they're doing to it...

I would argue that it is true. I think you're focusing on financial success, which simply would be biased because more people play video games during the days of HL2 compared to Duke Nukem. However if we look at cultural success we see both as equal. The sales of Duke Nukem 3D on Xbox Arcade alone shows that it obtained a status in gaming that can't be ignored.

How many people were excited when they heard of a DN sequel with new gen graphics? How long did it take them to just 'stop complaining about it not being released'? Then what happened to the game? :p

No, you should focus on financial success, because your funds are one of the biggest factors that affect your ability to continue developing games. The fact that more people are interested in Valve's products makes it far more likely that they will get another game into the market.

Computers, during Duke Nukem 3D, were primarily business machines. They evolved to gaming machines and thus would permit HL2 to sell plenty more copies. Financially, when we adjust to the way computers were used during the time, it could be argued that both were equally successful.

And what is Valve doing to sate us? Nothing. Atleast 3D Realms released a few screenshots and promises of bewbies in the game. Couldn't Valve release a crappy sketch drawing of a new gun or a background? That would be enough to shut me up for 6-8 months.

Do you honestly want them to do that? That's not going to magically make the game come out any faster. It will just make waiting for the game harder.

Yes, I do want them to do that. But will they listen to us at all? No. I'm not asking for anything big like promising a topless scene of Alyx Vance..........hmmmmmmm.......ohhhh yeah..........

What? Oh. Yeah, a sketch would be fine enough for me.

Give Valve the time they need to finish the development. The amount of virgin sacrifices that they have to make to get the job done isn't as easy to aquire these days.

I finished Crisis Core today and was about to start crying because of how sad it was... yeah, I, like everyone else that had payed attention through FFVII (and especially the extra scene in the basement at the end), knew how it was going to end, but it was still pretty damn sad...

Be honest, have you seen those pictures yet?

If you haven't, then you shouldn't give a shit about what time they were released. You just saw them.
