I once witnessed a suicide on my way to college in my first year of A-levels. I walked past a building where they had scaffolding up, as it was an old building that needed repairs and a guy had climbed up the scaffolding and flung himself off. I had to see a bereavement counselor for about a year.

I worked in a shelter for homeless migrant workers. Shoplifting was pretty much a given, and on one occasion we had a slashing to deal with.
You get kinda used to it.

I attended a mafia wedding when I was little so I imagine someone there was committing some sort of crime. I've also seen people shoplifting several times.

I saw two hobos kicked their asses kicked by a guy in a suit and tie in San Francisco. I saw them trying to get the guy in a corner, as soon as they went for his expensive looking watch, he bashed one of them in the face with his briefcase. He started to work on the other guy by kicking him right in the balls. As soon as they were both on the ground, he proceeded to keep kicking them in the stomach and face. It's sort of funny that everyone was rooting for the rich guy, I kind of was.

A long long time ago when I was about ten I was on a shopping trip with my parents. We were just finishing at the checkout when I got bored and decided to run around the area until they were done. I ran by the doors and saw two kids about the same age as me. They were by the coin-op candy machines and the moment they saw me they ran off. I looked over at the machines to find one smashed open with the candy still pouring out of it. It wasn't a serious crime but it was the first one I ever witnessed so it had a certain impact on me.

But my question for you all is, have you ever witnessed a crime? No matter how minor or major, please share all.
I've sat next to a friend as he pirated a game, I guess that counts?

Ive seen lots of fights on the street. I have had people vandalise the phonebox outside my house. I hav had people try and break down my down while i was in my house. Had a gang of Neds/Chavs throwing stones at the ustairs neighbors who pissed off a drug dealer. sent one small stone through my window. People throwng snowballs at my window in winter.

I had to chase a guy from my house a he tried to rob the place. Heard my upstares neighbors Boyfriend kick down the door to find he had moved. twice he did this. Guy moved back and they are back together.

I have seen folk break and steal from the phone box outside my house. Seen a women shoplift had to bust them.......it was the shop i worked at. Seen drug dealers deal.

Oh yes there was a guy running around my streets with a samuria sword and gun. Police caught him.
A gir my sister had been getting bullied from for years thaught wernt home and was about to put a brick threw our window. He outed at her and she ran away. She was arrested for more than just that went to prison for a month and was sent to her grand mothers in england.

I once thought I had. A guy was using a coat hanger to break into someone's car. I approached him and asked if this was his car. He shrugged and said, "Well, it's mine now."
I walked away and called the police. It was a slow process and they required very specific information. Before I could finish, I saw the man roll the car up to a tow truck. He belonged to a towing service and the car had been parked illegally.

I saw a guy with a hood running across the street, when I was going to GameStop a few years ago with my dad. We went inside of GameStop and no one was there, and we didn't think that the guy would have been running from GameStop for some reason. So we waited and then my dad knocked on the back door to see if anyone was there, and the clerk came out and was completely terrified and crying. We talked to them for a while to make sure they were okay, and after a bit, another clerk came out of the back, and he was shaking. They told us that they were okay, just shaken up, and said that it was a man with a hood (the guy we saw), and he pointed a gun at the clerk's face and told her to give them money and games, and then told them to stay in the back room because he would shoot them if he saw them. Then, they said that we should go in case anything happened, so we left.

Another time, my dad and I went to Blockbuster, and the clerk was face palming on the desk, so we asked if she was okay. She told us that some guy, who was dressed as an employee or something, carried out an entire cart of movies. She started laughing and said that she was stupid. We left after a while.

Beyond the usual "Piracy" reply, having worked at a Night Club (and attended more Night Clubs than most people ever have) has made me witness quite a few criminal "happenings" in the night life:
- Drug trade/sale
- Fights (both major and minor)
- Several assaults (best one was probably a 1,5m blonde hottie of a girl going nuts, jumping up and punching a random dude who was about 2½ head higher than her straigth in the face before she was restrained)
- Assault with knife
- Assault with thrown objects

Above is just what i have seen happen to other people. As for myself, (ignoring school fights etc.) I've personally been the subject of two street robberies (one with a Knife), both which I've managed to fend off/escape from mostly unscathed (still got a small 2 cm scar from the knife) and with my wallet.

There is also more if i do some more soul searching I'm sure. I can't remember them all, since it's over a long 5 year period.

I saw someone get stabbed (he lived) in the same room as me over a disagreement (That I wasn't party to). I don't want to say he had it coming but I didn't feel bad for him.

A few of us were robbed of some petty cash by gun point about 5 or so years ago. I found that scary.

I have seen several drug dealers, both trying to deal and actually dealing and I've been offered drugs several times. Oh, and I witnessed an insane fight when I was in New York once. Traffic signs had been pulled out of the ground with a big piece of concrete on the end. Thinking about how many times a day I hear the cops speeding by I think it's almost a bit odd that I haven't witnessed anything else.
