I don't like it, I really don't. Although to be fair I largely don't like it for personal reasons.

I see that and there's absolutely nothing Tomb Raider about it, it's just the gaming equivalent of some over-the-top violent and gory action fest movie that happens to have the Tomb Raider name attached. I don't like those sorts of movies either, I'm not a fan of Tarantino for example, so I definitely don't like it in games especially when it's done to a character I've generally enjoyed...

Not that it much matters because if that's a glimpse of what is to come it's a Tomb Raider game in name only. The original games were about exploration and puzzle solving with a splash of platforming. A really clever and unique mix of gameplay styles that Tomb Raider often did extremely well, showcasing some of the best level design in the gaming industry.

This just looks like a bloody mean-spirited version of Uncharted.

I'm seeing a lot of Uncharted shenanigans, i.e. heavily scripted thrill ride sequences. Not horrible per se, but I'll miss the sense of exploration the earlier games had.

And shit, young Lara really is racking up that kill count!

It looks good (graphically), I think the developers will have had all the right ideas for a good game but will the game itself be good?

It's till a toss up, they've got a great idea for a character, and concept and even game type but it's something that requires a lot of polish, this trailer seemed to skip around a lot with a little bit of clunk in it. Every moment was good at presenting an emotion, but they were widely different emotions. We'd go from badass fighting Lara, to caring Lara, to frightened Lara, to aching and bruised Lara... all too quickly. When they do the slow run, hand on stomach thing in Uncharted 2, it's a 10 min sort of sequence, with story justification and cutscenes either side of it.

But maybe in the wider context of the game and with a tiny bit more work it will all come together.

EDIT: I like the trap and love that little moment where she comes out into the sun, but equally I really don't like the UI. Hopefully when you play it, you get used to it quickly

Personally, that's probably the reason I'll enjoy the game. I mean, the reason I got into Dead Space 2 (and to a lesser extent, 3) so much is because Isaac is basically 'Nathan Drake in SPACE!'.

It's looking really great so far. I really like the reactions the A.I has when they see her (at one point a guy was running in her direction, and when she popped up out of cover, he stumbled in shock). Hopefully the action gets drawn apart a little, since everything is occurring a little quickly - but then, this is only a single section of the game.

To be fair, there are tombs and exploration in the game. Most of it is optional too, so if you come across an interesting looking location, if you choose to explore deeper you could come across something really awesome. Since all they're showcasing is the action-y bits (which is probably to entice a wider audience) I can see why that would put you off.

Only a few weeks away, now.

Whats with every game with bows and crossbows lately?
What's with the swoosh effect?
QTE.
Cinematic crap.
Bullet time?
Were too dumb to crouch for ourselves now?
8:15, apparently too dumb to aim ourselves too?
The guy makes it sounds like it is a survival game yet all I see is Uncharted.

While I like the new Lara Croft design, Call me un-interested, I see too much Uncharted and I don't really care for that kind of game play.

I like it. But I don't like it as a Tomb Raider game. I like it as an Uncharted clone with female character. Which is weird because Uncharted was inspired by Tomb Raider (and Indiana Jones). And you can't call it a survival game when you have health regeneration.
Usually I'd rage more about a game filled with questionable gameplay design choices like this one, but I like Uncharted.

I am still not sure if I want to get this. It doesn't look like something I'd pay $60 for, but it looks like something I'd enjoy. So, it's a discount purchase from me, I guess. Ideally during Steam discount sales. If it's available on Steam.

I don't think I'll be getting this one. Seems to be the kind of game that constantly takes control away from you in order to show off some big scripted spectacle. That kinda shit mostly just pisses me off.

That shotgun was so sexist.

...

Eh, looks alright. My mind is far from blown, but it looks like a solid game.

Doesn't look like anything special. Looks quite 'Uncharted' like to me and that game series never really excited me so I'll have to wait for a price drop or neglect entirely.
To be fair they used to say that uncharted was just a sleeker tomb raider so its kind of a fair assessment and kind of unfair but yeah I get it.

For me it just looks polished and a bit more fun. gameplaywise its "basically" the same but then the characters and story are different. uncharted was more indiana jones where as this is more lost with a touch of adventure put in for flavor. so for me thats different enough to warrant a purchase.

I get a bit of a FarCry 3 vibe from it.

Eh, looks a lot better than the old games, but probably not enough to make me want to purchase it.

I'll be the - what, tenth person to say that? OK then.

Oh look, it's Uncharted with the name of a famous IP from earlier generations slapped on!

And now, for the joke.

She's like Nathan Drake with lady parts. It's my dream come true.

Oh Wow. It really is... Uncharty. No no, what I should say is it looks the same as every other friggin realistic game out. Does any think the devs want these games always looking the same?

I thought the ride in the rapids is a cool idea but the slow motion kinda takes away from the intensity. The movement is clumsy and looks like bad acting. Actually, it's all pretty lame. I won't bother with this.

Pc master race here so never played uncharted what so many people compare it to.

Looks nice, better than that angel of darkness crap anyway. (Going by my memories now)

She does seem to jump a bit unrealistically high, but eh, i can live with that.

I do hope we can still decide (with a button press that is) if we want to go into cover.
