I have a phobia of pixelated games and early 3D software- especially those that my father played when I was a child. I'd rather not go into the details, but lets just say that I still have the occasional nighmare about evil pig cops, demons and floating skulls.
Recently, I found the discs to Tomb Raider, and it will run fine for me in Boxer. They say that the best way to face one's fear is to face it, but last time I tried that, it didn't turn out so well. I once tried to play Duke Nukem 3d with infinite everything, and the enemies removed from the levels, but I couldn't hardly manage that. Still, I have a better record with Tomb Raider- I do remember running around in the mansion tutorial level and I was older when first introduced to it.
So, I've decided to try and play through Tomb Raider. I don't mind using cheats; I'm a pansy like that, and I will need to configure my 360 controller to work with my computer because my keyboard lacks some of the required buttons. That's doable, though. I am vaguely familiar with some of the levels from having watched my father play, but that was over a decade ago.
So, suggestions? Have you ever had or overcome video game fears of your own? What would you suggest I do? Dive in? Find someone who knows what they're doing and get them to help me? And how hard is the game, anyway? I do remember that my father was never very good at video games...
