Well male characters take on similar odds and you don't see anyone complaining about realism there :p I'm pretty sure a woman is capable of killing a man. I get what you mean about the numbers though.

As for the sudden disregard for human life apparently the narrative team wanted her to go longer without killing many dudes but the gameplay guys disagreed.

Ok not sure what you think im getting at here I am just saying Lara Croft development is unrealistic and her killing ability is as well and that this dosent bother me because I like a game that is playable and fun overly being slavishly realistic.

Her sex is irrelevant many male characters are unrealistic and that dosent bother me either but people will complain about that as well Nathan Drake springs to mind immediately as another unrealistic character people complained about because he also kills ridiculous numbers of soldiers and survives stupid situations constantly again this dosent bother me.

Yes women can kill men killing is something anyone can do a child can kill a man as well this point is mute. Also im glad the gameplay guys won out I like the mix between combat and exploration at the moment and its not like she is killing many people that early in comparison to some games again Uncharted is an obvious comparison here.

In very short I am not saying she is unrealistic because she is a woman and thus incapable of doing what she does in game I am saying she is unrealistic because she is supposed to be human but quite obviously displays superhuman feats of endurance, stamina, healing and killing capacity (among others) and whats more that this dosent matter to me as it makes the game more fun.

Also I have just got a bit further in the game and I am quite liking the new Lara, much more so than the old one.

I'm now about halfway through the game and I must say in the last hour my opinion of this game has changed from pretty good to FUCK YEAH!!! Lara Croft's gradual transformation into... well, into Lara Croft... is done magnificently. Screw the professional game critics - I'm totally sold on this superhero origin story!

A few bite-sized observations on the game in general:

- It's nice to play a game with cutscenes that don't seem designed for ADHD players. Each scene takes it's time and the overall story pacing is great.

- Jumping and climbing around the environments feels fluid and natural.

- The scramble-for-cover-shoot-scramble-stab-dude-in-face-scramble combat is a lot of fun.

- The puzzles are too few, too small, and too easy.

I'm glad, I think this is my favourite game of this gen. I hope Rhianna Pratchett stays on the team. :)

One of my favourite things about it is Lara shouts back at her aggressors. 'Come of then ya bastards lets see what you got!' Hahahaha

My favourite line so far is actually from one of the goons. At one point they ambushed me/Lara and I/her/we(I'm confusing myself here) fought back with surprising effectiveness, taking out half a dozen enemies in as many seconds. A goon shouted "Come on! She's just one girl!" and another shouted back "Yeah well that 'one girl' is kicking our asses!!" LOL

FYI PC gamers! Apparently they did mess up the PC port:

I'm playing with the program suggested in that thread 'borderless windowed mode' and the game looks significantly better with extra effects and colors brighter. Kinda a shame I played half the game already. I'll have to replay it one more time in the future just for that.
