since school is different over here in Germany i will just compare this to my last three years of school, after everyone who does not want to go to university left(which is a viable option here, or at least used to be).
It was a great time but in between the work load and the extra curricular stuff i did took up a lot of time and i also turned 18 so i spend almost every night at a bar or other, just because i could. The over-achiever in me was happy because for the first time there was stuff to do outside of class but in school that was not related to sports. I got myself elected as class president and organized the shit out of everything that could be organized. After the three years i needed a break, thank god for mandatory military service.
BUT while everything was fun and all the most important thing is to keep your grades up, it may sound lame but i didn't and it was only through dumb luck that i got accepted at the university of my choice.
