As much of a fan as I am of Tony Hawk, my boy has always been Rodney Mullen. That guy is genius level of awesome, and I love that he was never really into the competition scene as much as pushing the boundaries of skating. He was my hero when I was a skater before I had a wakeup call of mortality (biffed hard enough to rattle the cage), well he still is my hero but I've not skated since the mid-90s.
Still its sad in a sense that time has caught up with the Hawkman but it gets us all and I'd rather see him exit on a good note, one last great trick than to see him keep trying as an old man... Reminds me of Ric Flair wrestling way beyond the age he should have retired at... at some point you lose the ability you once had and it shows... Well unless you're big Van Vader, that dude in his 60s can still go.
