Too early for a Mass Effect 3 wishlist thread? Inconceivable!

Good god, some people have already finished the game?

I'm not even through the Omega 4 relay yet! I recruited all the team-mates on the dossiers, and did most of their side missions, but I haven't even explored the side systems (the ones you have to fly to.)

And people beat this already?!? Madness.

1) Make scanning faster or more interesting. This is at the top of almost everyone's list for a reason: it's slow, tedious, and really detracts from what is arguably the best game ever.

2) More customization options in general. This means a few more abilities per class, more armor options, more new weapons, and everything in between. I like the upgrade system (even if it requires that infernal scanning mechanic), but it really makes the itemization in the game very bare-bones. I literally used the same Pistol from the very first level until the very last with no upgrade at all. That's poor design.

3) More interesting side missions. The loyalty missions were by far the best parts of the game, but there just weren't enough of them. I'd love to have 2-3 per character.

4) Allow Pull, Shockwave, Slam, and Singularity to disable enemies that are shielded or armored. These abilities were almost useless in higher difficulties because every enemy is immune to them. Kinda sucks that the only viable abilities on Insanity are Incinerate, Warp, and Overload.

The protheans WERE bugs. In one of the side-missions you visit another prothean beacon that shows an extended vision of the Protean's warning message. There, you get to see that the old protheans looked exactly like the collectors.
Then why were there statues of Zoidberg-esque aliens all over Illos? Why does the Prothean's codex entry show one of these statues? And Collector DNA only contained traces of Prothean DNA. If they were always bugs they would not have been heavily modified, a sEDI claimed. That beacon probably showed a Pothean being turned into a Collector.

The real answer is that BioWare's writers probably didn't plan for the Collectors to be linked to the reapers when they designed them. But down the road they thought this idea was better, so they changed it. However they wren't going to overhaul all the work they had already done on designing Collectors, so they just stuck with the bug design.
People weren't sure exactly what the Protheans looked like, since they were all wiped out so long ago. The "Zoidberg"-esque statues are what everyone ASSUMED they must look like, since that was all they had to go on.
The protheans are humanoids with squidfaces.
You learn that the collectors were abducting humans to use their dna to make a human reaper. The protheans squid faceyness and the fact that sovereign looked like a flying cthulu face indicates that he was made from the protheans.
Actually... if you pay attention, you'll note that it is mentioned that the Reapers FAILED to make a prothean reaper, so instead they decided to use the protheans for other things, like "collecting". It says this right at the part with the human reaper.

BioWare is pretty much using the same hardware and tech for #3 as #2. Don't expect much in the way of tech upgrades or graphics. However, the story...yes... and more combat dialogue for friendly/enemy troops.

I loved the story idea 1 you have.

My idea is that maybe the introduction of a failed(as in not functioning well) Reaper?

Like the Reaper is somewhat damaged, and because of that is happy-go-lucky and retarded.

The game was released in January, and it's only June. Why are you suprised?

Oh, and when you go off to get your last team member... Use shotguns. Like a fuckload of them, 'cause you'll meet a ton of husks that are REALLY ANNOYING when the come up to you and give you the Beggar Punch.

I made that post in February, only a few days after the release. This thread was necroed.

My list of things I want changed that no one will ever read...

1. Bring back the RPG elements
2. Um, that's pretty much it

ME2 was just so damn linear. Guns, gear, classes, characters - all the upgrades were predetermined, so I felt no sense of self-determination. All of the areas were narrow, point A to point B affairs, so I felt no sense of exploration. Even the story had only a few instances of deviation, so I felt no sense of authorship.

Don't misunderstand; great game, great action, great narrative. I'll be amped to play ME3 even if they change nothing. But I think they overreacted to some of the criticisms of ME1. When someone says your inventory system is sloppy, you should focus on making it suck less - as opposed to, you know, completely jettisoning it from the game.

Oh, one thing most people should agree on: the concept of resource gathering is just inherently flawed. ME2 was plenty long and satisfying without the 2-3 hours I spent mindlessly grinding planets for space gold. If you're looking to evolve the genre, feel free to get rid of the parts no one likes before you destroy the details many enjoy. Weave stat progression into the story missions and side quests players want to see anyways.

Ah, I apologize. Didn't notice that.
