If Adventure Time suddenly starting being a pandering typical "kiddie show" I would be pretty upset, yah.

Call me what you will.
I sort of agree with you What You Will. (odd name by the way)

Becoming "kiddie" isn't an automatic death sentence for a cartoon like Adventure Time. It still has lots of kiddie cartoon elements, along with the darker/adolescent/mature undertones. That is what makes it great for me, it can appeal to lots of people for very different reasons.

Wasn't that added later? I thought she originated as a kinky shrink's wet dream who punched out Nazis.
And 'originated as' means exactly what with regards to comics? :p

I mean Superman used to only be able to run faster than a speeding bullet and leap tall buildings in a single bound, Jubilee was only the 'Razzle Dazzle' member of the X-Men, and Mr. Freeze didn't get his tragic origins until Batman TAS. Whatever her origins may or may not have been, I'm pretty certain Justice League ran with the 'Amazonian Princess' bit. :p

I'll admit up front I was never a huge fan of Wonder Woman as she seemed more a vehicle for feminism than an actual hero
Stupid feminism!

It gets in the way of the true vehicle that Wonder Women really is: BSDM!

You mean you liked Terry Moore's run better? Damn, that's a first. 0_o I mean, she wasn't Vaughn or even Whedon, but at least she didn't have plastic surgery zombies controlled by a shock jock.

i just stopped reading from this point on.

you do know that NO MALES are allowed on Themiscyra.

yes, superman is male.
Fine they both can fly, so they theoretically never have to break that rule, giant monster bashing them into the ground not withstanding.

Mass Effect: Deception.

Kindly go fuck yourself with a lightsaber, William Dietz.

That book was an insult to the Mass Effect universe and a slap to the face with a rotting fish for fans. It was a poorly-made piece of shit that could have been written better by a thirteen year old. The sheer number of lore inconsistencies is mind-boggling. It's as though Deitz learned everything he knew about Mass Effect from Fox News. Anyone who had played any of the games could tell you that quarians have to have airtight suits or they will die. There is just so much wrong with that book that the mere thought of it enrages me. It was an insult to writing and gaming as a whole.

Yeah, but she did have these things:
1. She killed Old Lace to achieve a little drama. Because apparently, making it impossible to ever read any stories about Old Lace again is worth it if you get a little drama you could have gotten some other way. And even though having a pet dinosaur was one of the things that really set Runaways apart from the other young Marvel superhero teams.

2. Oh look, it's Hunter Stein! One of those adults! Now, as we all know, the ongoing theme of Runaways is justified rebellion -- the team can take care of themselves, and the adults in their lives all turned out to be evil. So obviously, what's necessary now is to throw him o- Uh? We're gonna listen to him? And do as he says? Because he knows much more about things than the Runaways? Well... Okay, I guess... Apparently, "The adults know more than we do, so we'll be obedient" is the new team motto... But look, it's okay! We're still rebellious! Because as Nico's doing as he says and listening to him, she's scowling! That's rebellious! ...Right?

3. Let's have Nico think about a Shakespeare play she learned about in school! And let's have them do their own prom! Because there aren't enough places where people can read about that already!

In short, Immonen seemed to think "This title is about rebelling against the adults trying to keep you down, and ditching things like school to live in a secret hideout with your pals and your pet dinosaur. But what it should be about is accepting that adults are trustworthy people who know better than you, and that you should do as they tell you. Also, you should stop doing silly things like having a pet dinosaur, and start thinking about school more."

Star Wars. Not even related to any of the prequel film bullshit or Lucas's constant revisions.

It's just the direction that Star Wars has gone after New Jedi Order.
What? You mean you don't like the fact that the GA suddenly decided to elect a sworn enemy who attempted genocide on Mon Calamarie a few decades ago to be their leader? Why ever would that bother you? :) Or are you talking about something different?

Hm...I'm not sure on myself. I've been told I may take my pony love a bit too far considering all the stuff I have, but I just like collecting stuff in general. I've seen other people take things too far.

Again, going back to ponies and bronies, there have been a few cases where I just shook my head and stood back from the insanity. Twilight becoming an Alicorn, Equestria Girls, Princess Molestia...

Also, George Lucas and Star Wars...some people really need to calm down.

Does writing a fifty page ending to Mass Effect 3 count? Because if that counts, then I'm totally guilty on that charge.

I know this is something of an expected response, but the story of Metroid: Other M really, REALLY bothers me. Even the title fucking enrages me. Oh yeah, very clever, "other M" is a piss poor anagram for "Mother". Oh look! The initials of the game spell "MOM"! Nevermind that Other M doesn't even mean anything as a title! Have a fucking round of applause, Sakamoto.

I hated that Link was right handed in the Wii version of Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword mainly because I am left handed myself. I vastly prefer the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess because he is still left handed in that version, though I think the consensus is that the Gamecube version is the better version anyway.

However now that Link seems to be left handed again in every new and upcoming game,(Link Between Worlds, Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros. U) I think that old Zelda tradition is here to stay! :D

Oddly enough, it turns out it irked a lot of other Zelda fans too, even a bunch of right handed fans thought a right handed Link looked wrong.
Yeah! Lefty high five.
On the note of the post, I'm still heart broken that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 was canceled.

Wait, they did what?

Pyramid Head has been promoted to Heather's personal bodyguard

THEY WHAT?

and Claudia hasn't just suddenly become the monster that killed Harry in SH 3 (who btw makes it out perfectly fine in the second movie), but also Vincent's mother.
...

My answer is above. I'm not even a massive Silent Hill fan anymore, but the above makes me enraged.

I absolutely hate the Silent Hill movies for not just outright ignoring the canon and making shit up, but also twisting existing characters and monsters and not giving a shit about symbolism.

Want some examples?

I also feel the pressing need to choke anyone who dares explaining anything from the games with stuff that happened in these shit movies. In fact I hate everything SH that was outsourced to western writers and studios. Fuck you, Konami!
At least they stayed the hell away from SH2. The games had a bonkers plot to begin with, but SH2 is something entirely different and I'm glad they had the good taste to not touch it.

Anyway, any of you have a similar experience of over reacting?

I remember way back when I was a brony, a whole year ago, I almost lost one of my other brony friends over insulting his favorite pony. What did I say? That a background character with no lines is not important, and has no personality of its own, and that just because he liked a fanfiction, does not mean it is either cannon, or that it should be brought up every time that character appears.

Also, whenever Pyramid Head appears in a non-Silent Hill 2, I lose a little more respect for Silent Hill.

Finally, for a literal case of a Fandom that took it too seriously, Pokemon. Do I really need to say anything else with that?

Captcha: THIS STATEMENT IS FALSE. Oh. Ignore my post then, Captcha's calling me a liar

"Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II" is my favorite game of all time. I won't go into why such a buggy mess managed to beat out about a thousand other games, but I lost my shit when Drew Karpyshyn - yes, the head writer for most of the Mass Effect series, which I loved, and a lot of other great BioWare games - completely retconned or flat-out IGNORED everything that happened in KotOR II. For those who don't know, the sequel to BioWare's beloved "Knights of the Old Republic" was made by a company known as Obsidian Entertainment (or Black Isle, for you old school RPG fans).

Anyway, I was angry when Drew gave Revan a face and made him this pathetic jack-ass that was NOTHING like what he was made out to be in KotOR II (a freakin' BADASS, that's what! You learn more about Revan in the second game than you do when you're PLAYING as him in the first game) in the flop MMO entitled "Star Wars: The Old Republic". But just when I had moved on from that slap in the face... I found out he wrote a book about the Exile (the protagonist of KotOR II) after the game takes place.

That book just pissed me right the f**k off! For one thing, you do NOT give the Exile a name - ever. No, seriously, that undermines so much of what "KotOR II" taught right off the bat! You give her a face and a name, and you may as well burn the entire brilliant web of storytelling and symbolism in the game. Not only that, but pretty everything that happens to the Exile or what she does completely demolished her character.
For another, you do NOT tell us what happened in the Unknown Regions with her and Revan! That was a sacred thing you chewed up and shat out, Drew! Why don't you just burst into the room of a honeymooning couple and video tape it, you bastard!?
One of the worst things he did was make it so Revan came back a SERVANT OF THE EMPEROR when he and Malak first encountered the True Sith, instead of the BRILLIANT TACTICIAN he truly was. Then he slowly forgot the months he spent out there SOMEHOW and changed from being a slave to just half a slave... or something equally stupid. The point is, Revan was emasculated, and everything the Exile represented was destroyed by Drew Karpyshyn.
Then he screwed with Canderous and twisted other stories presented in BOTH the first and second game, and just... *frustrated sigh*

Look, I get it... Drew couldn't write Interpretive Fiction if his life depended on it, whereas that's Chris Avellone's specialty (head writer of Obsidian). But just because you don't understand it doesn't mean you just RUIN it for everyone else!

...

As you can probably tell, I'm a little bitter. Good thing I've been boycotting EA for the past couple years, because that means I won't be playing another BioWare game (formerly my favorite company :( ).

There is a problem on Themiscyra, we have to save the day, but oh dear, it's Wondy's place, no boys allowed. And the whole two parter revolved around how to get around the "no men" rule that Themiscyra had and still get Wonder Woman back up from other members of her team. I was screaming at my TV possible solutions to this "problem" for half a hour. "Super man and the martian are not men, they're aliens, what did you do, kick every male animal off the island too? How does that even work?" or "Where the fuck is Hawk Girl? Why the hell doesn't she count?". Or, "This is BS, no one in the league was discriminating against Wonder Woman, why is it suddenly okay for her to discriminate against them? Reverse sexism is stupid, but even if you do argue for it, there had to be something to reverse in the first place!" or even "Why can't "girl power" episodes just naturally revolve around female characters instead of artificially finding ways to ban men from showing up?".

Course after I was done with the two parter I had to say to myself "you already knew what that was going to be about like five minutes in, why did you even watch it?". I seriously had gotten pissed off at a kid's show. Why didn't I just skip to an episode I would have liked?

You speaking as if Themiscyra was some kind of club, or a women's only gym. Themiscyra is a country, with laws as set down by Queen Hippolyta the ruler of the Amazons. A law to which you'll notice Diana said 'Yeah, screw that noise' and still brought Batman and co. to the island to fix the problem AND still accept exile. An action that hurt both mother and daughter deeply but as a leader, Hippolyta doesn't have the luxury of subverting the law because this time it's her own daughter that was affected.

Plus they did a two parter prior to that, Fury (I think) with that honorary Amazon Aresia trying to kill all men with a pathogen, and she was then brought mentally undone with the knowledge (kept from her, a mistake of Hippolyta's) that were it not for the male ship captain, she would have died as a child. The whole point of that two part set was to basically point out that the philosophy of 'No Men' was stupid - but over a thousand years of tradition and insular philosophy doesn't change overnight.

Actually the Wonder Woman animated movie also did a good job of kicking the ideals in the arse too; and it ended with Diana becoming Themiscyra's ambassador to the world at large so that they may re-integrate to the rest of the modern world.
come to think of it... those episodes annoyed me too.

I understand she broke the no men rule, but if she didn't the world would of ended. Are there really Amazonian hardliners that don't see how needless that law was in this circumstance?

Furthermore, it's a monarchy right? Queen could of done anything she wanted, who would stop her? Isn't that a whole point of being a ruler, to do whats best for the people?

And Torkuda still has a point... Superman and Manhunter aren't human, so WTF... are the Amazonians here acting only in the spirit of the law? Does it explicitly state Human men or any humanoid male?

I take 343 Industries' complete butchering handling of the Halo series too seriously and I'll admit that. Then again it's not as if my anger is completely unjustified.

Oh yes and the second Silent Hill film, I only got into Silent Hill in March (with Downpour) and it still managed to annoy me greatly. It just forms anger by existing.

I get very passionate with discussions of Mass Effect 3s ending. Not only do I think it's hate is completely over the top, but contrary to most people I believe the destroy/refusal ending is renegade and synthesis/control are paragon.

Also I detest the indoctrination theory.
