Top 3:
1. Starcraft: Brood War: This game is just amazing. I started playing the original Starcraft in 2000, and I've played it at least once a week ( That's just for this year, back then, I remember playing 10 hours straight at least 3 times a week) since I played it. It's just amazing.

2. Final Fantasy Tactics: This game is just amazing. From the story to teh characters ot the job system to the combat, everything about it is just pure amazing.

3. Mass Effect Series: I love these games. 2 had better gameplay, I find, and better characters, while 1 had a much better story.

Worst 3:
1. COD: BlOps: I just fucking hate the game. It's boring and repetitive, and probably one of the worst AAA games I've played.

2. Thrillville: I got it for a B-day present, played it for 20 minutes, and I've never played it again. Roller coaster tycoon is waaaaay better.

3. Can't think of one. Sorry.

Three isn't enough :).

Best:
1) Planescape: Torment: No other game has managed to provide such a fantastic storytelling and emotions (e.g. reading about what Practical One did to Deionarra was marvelous). I started PS:T once again after trying DA2.

2) Deus Ex: And this was very, very close one. The best combination of freedom, fps and rpg and slight adventure. Even thou it's ugly as sin (by today's standards), gameplay is pure gold.

3) Fallout: Such a big company as Bethesda itself tried to reproduce Fallout's atmosphere and they failed. Yep, that's how greatly Fallout 1 & F2 have been designed.

Worst:
1) Prince of Persia 3D: Never heard of it? Good for you, now keep walking...Back at the day, I thought PoP couldn't possibly be done wrong. I'had been proven otherwise.

2) Dragon Age 2: I'm probably gonna get cursed for this, but DA2 goes against almost everything I expect from a good rpg or something that could be called Baldur's Gate spiritual successor. I didn't enjoy the game, I don't like it and I sincerely hope THIS isn't the future of RPG titles for PC.

3) Aliens vs. Predator 2010: Honestly the shortest single player I've ever played and surely the most boring. Hell, even MW2 was more fun. And multiplayer didn't redeem it either.

What can I say? I love the world they created. I also like MEs universe, and that story is on the beaten path.
Its alright but I think they could of done a lot more with it, they created it anew, separate from previous AD&D IP.. I don't think they really made any effort to make much of that opportunity.

There isn't a game in the world which has a story that will surprise people anymore. Every game I played, I could have guessed the general plot easily.
Ah now I have to disagree again here, DAO makes no effort to conceal the plot or the structuring of the game from the player.
the arch-demon, the blight, the need to rally the three factions: Dwarves, Elves, men, Loghain as the bad guy, plus the inevitable unfolding of these components is made pretty clear to the player very quickly
.

There are plenty of games that make a much better job of keeping the player guessing and letting the story unfold in a way that keeps the player hooked in rather than sighing as each obvious element of the plot crops up on cue. Example are easy to find: kotor, bioshock, Mass Effect, just to mention three AAA titles that did a good job of not letting all elements of the story out of the bag immediately.

Have you played FPS's? I know every single one has a bullshit story, far worse than DA:O that can be summed up from the start. It goes something like this: Someone/something is threatening the city/world/galaxy/universe and you're the only one who can stop it. Betrayal is also common in these games (fallout 3, new vegas, DA:O, MW2, ME, AC 2...etc). The player's (insert relationship here) dies, it's a law and is written in stone.

My opinion:
Dragon Age does fall into this category, but I think it's far from the worst.

Overall it's your opinion, so I won't argue or try to convince you otherwise.
True the macro themes are commonplace, but there is a lot that you can do with the basic premise and there is no need to serve up a raw formula plot with no twists or hidden developments. With DAO I knew after 1/2 hour playing exactly where I would be going and what i would be doing for the rest of the game, there was some side quest detail and minor plot detail but other than that everything was laid on the table at the start.
True the DAO story may not be as bad as some FPS games, but then FPS is really all about the shooting, the story is in most cases just flimsy context for that if they even bother with a story. An RPG on the other hand you expect to try harder.

Before we start, I know I'm mixing Lisa Foiles and Zero Punctuation... Don't be a troll!

Anyway, I just wanted to know your guy's top 4 best and worst games of any generation. Please tell me what they are and why they are there. They don't need to be in any particular order, they don't even need to be a videogame, but just tell me why. I'll even start:

Best:
1. C.O.D: MW2: I just find this game really fun on multiplayer, and the campaign is great!
2. Naruto-Arena: I think it's pretty cool when you can take your fav. Naruto characters and beat up other people online.
3. Magic: The Gathering: People really don't know that this was the 1st CCG ever made! It is really engaging, and I find it really fun!

Worst:
1. Family Guy game: I will admit I like Family Guy, but the game is one of the worst I have ever seen. The graphics were horrid, and the gameplay itself made me want to tear me ears off in fustration!
2. Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus: I like the plot itself, and the graphics were decent for a PS2 game, but the gameplay was just bad. It was the gameplay that made me hate this game.
3. Runescape: I used to LOVE this game, until it went retarded. The level up slope is IMMENSE, and most of the quests now adays just have you going back and forth on the map. Although I do like how they finally brought back the Wildy and the original free-trade.

So go forth, fellow Escapees, praise, rant and rave, but don't go trolling on me for what I put up. It is a matter of opinion; DEAL WITH IT!
Ok, I need to change my Top 3 a bit:

#2: From Naruto-Arena to LoZ:OoT! This, and Majora's Mask are the only LoZ games I have ever played... and through out both of them, I loved every second of it. I have TwiP and plan on playing it... If I can ever find it. :(

If the critics are to be believed, the absolute worst game in the history of the medium is E.T for the Atari 2600. And I agree.

There's a fair few that will crop up as being on the plane of terribleness just underneath it, but some of the more common ones you'll hear about are Custer's Revenge, Superman 64, Daikatana, Club Drive for the Jaguar, and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon.
