Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
Isn't that kind of cheating? Considering that's a graphics update of a last generation game.

I could understand someone considering something like Tomb Raider: Anniversary a separate game because it was remade from the ground up and a lot of it was relatively different... but Halo Anniversary is a straight port with Reach-style graphics. :\

As it is, the game isn't even out yet, so unless you got an early copy, you'd have to be basing this off the fact that you liked Halo 1 on Xbox or PC from last generation.

I'd say Fallout 3 but New Vegas is far better.
I'd say Orange Box but it's several games, and they occupy their own realm of brilliance.
Though if I did, Half Life 2 and it's episodes. Hands down.

Darn. It would be far easier to name the worst fps's of this gen. Then. I'd pull out my enormous list, and considering the clog that they've created this gen, I don't think they deserve any mention at all.

Actually you could say he's justified (lol). It's a remake, but it's still game being released this generation. He's already played the game that it's remaking, therefore he already knows its quality. Cheating/grey area I guess, but it's an internet list, who cares?

Since when is fallout FPS??

anyway if remake count then this is by far best FPS ever

That game is great.

As for me, I haven't played much FPS or even bought that many from different series, so:

1) Rage--the combat was very smooth and everything felt rewarding.
2) Halo Reach--just for the fun factor.
3) Condemned: Criminal Origins--one of the first horror FPSs that I actually played and a very good one.

Ack... Don't encourage me. >_< I follow that logic so often already that I barely even post on forums at all.

"Meh. Why am I even bothering? It's just going to waste a bunch of my time anyway. This is the internet after all."

I tend to do that a lot.

It seems many people on here are trying to sneak games on to their lists that have no place being there. I am of the mind that to call games like Fallout 3, Portal, and Oblivion First Person Shooters is to insult what they really are. You may be in first person in these games, but to say "oh, yeah they're shooters cause its first person and you shoot." is simplifying the greatness of these games and lumping them in with the boring, generic garbage that most of today's shooter market consists of. Well, anyway, as for my top three actual First Person Shooters of this gen, here you go:

1.HL2 Episode 2 (The main game was last gen)
2.Bioshock
3.Left 4 Dead

- Crysis

- Team Fortress 2

- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Look, all of them from 2007. Yup, nothing will ever beat almighty 2007.

I would certainly agree with that.

In general when it comes to people rating genres, most of the time they don't tend to actually look at what that game did for its particular genre, and simply try to find a way to include their 'favorites' via technicalities.

If I had used that method, my list would have been very different, but judging based on the "shooting" aspect, I went with those I had the most fun doing exactly that, projectile-combat.
