Remember all those GotY topics we had recently, so many GotY threads. Yours is no different to them.
Way to contribute, bub.

Here. Have a gold star for being different.
Hehe. I was going to do something similar, but you were much more graceful in the execution.

1. DRAGON AGE 2
crap combat on the PC and shit graphics its a major disappointment and kick in the teeth to someone who loved the original.
I can see why people liked it but I think its a spit in the face to DA:eek:rigns fans.
I loved the original but its animations were so slow, awkward, and easily interrupted that the combat never even happened. Besides it was far to easy and terribly balanced.
Dragon Age 2 made the combat faster, more tactical, more challenging, more accurate, better balanced, and just generally what the first should have had in every way.
Dragon Age 2 has a lot of flaws but the combat on the PC was not one of them.
(Assuming you played Nightmare I guess. Otherwise of course it was bad they took all of the game mechanics out so casuals could roll over it.)

I don't have any reason to care that you didn't enjoy it, That's all subjective and up to your preferences.
The real thing I'm commenting on is that "Fans of the Original" happened to occasionally like DA:2, in fact I'm fairly sure those are the only people that gave DA:2 a chance. So I find blanket statements like yours above a bit offensive. Sounds like you're disregarding a lot of us as "not real fans" because we liked the sequel. =(

As an aside, if you liked the first at all why would you care about graphics being sub par? DA2 had like 50 times the graphical power in it, that was one of its flaws.
They should have given it worse graphics so that they had the resources to actually make the rest of the game. When they went ahead fixing DA1's flaws they overkilled it and spent all of their time on Graphics and Combat. Combat is essential but graphics are a non-issue imo.
Complain about how Dragon Age 2 was a disappointment and I'll be right with you but complain about the parts it actually did poorly, like story, pacing, focus, and world building.

Actually the Tag team was hired by Valve to work on Portal 2. I can't help but despise the fact that you put Portal 2 on your worst 5 list.
Sorry, I was unaware. I still don't like Portal 2 though, Portal games really bore me and I can't help but despise the fact that Portal 2 is praised when there is barely any change while other games are shot down for having little change. I have the same problem with Assassin's Creed too, but don't hate me for my opinion.

Why didn't you like BF3?
It's hard to explain. It felt really unpolished to me (Xbox 360) and felt more like Bad Company 3. The multiplayer made me pretty fustrated with god-awful spawning, boring maps, and annoying snipers. Also, I didn't like the singleplayer and it doesn't really fit the game, and the co-op missions were way too long to enjoy.

Top 5

5 Ghost Trick (One of the best stories i've ever sat through)
4 Portal 2 (whilst i love portal i just feel as if it could have had a little more, and god dammit valve give us more dlc)
3. Battlefield 3 (I've had a lot of fun playing it but it has an uncanny ability to make me rage quit)
2. Batman: Arkham City (any other year this would be game of the year for me, so much fun with awesome music and an awesome story.)
1. Skyrim (just cause)

Worst 5

5. Duke Nuke em Forever (why did they get rid of one of our few video game in jokes for this piece of tat)
4. Halo combat anniversary (don;t get me wrong i like halo, something about the graphics just winds my eyes up the wrong way.)
3. Mortal Kombat (Bored)
2. U MvC3 (love MvC3 i just can;t see why they didn;t release it as dlc, it would have been so much easier
1. COD:MW3 (why oh why oh why is this still allowed to stagnate the videogame market with it's grayish shooterness)

they're more disappointments than the worst im sure that there were far more dire games released this year

As much as i love sarcasticly given gold stars, can you give it to the TC instead for contributing so much to the forums as a whole? That would be great thanks.
Think about it, you made a useless post to complain about a useless thread. That scores you one degree higher on the Gold Starometer.

OT: Skyrim, Minecraft, Portal 2... And that's actually all I've played. So in that order.

EDIT: And if I had a worst list, Bit.Trip Runner would be there. Trial and error is one of the deadly sins of game design.

In no particular order:
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Portal 2
Battlefield 3
with Dragon Age II coming in 6th. Doesn't even hold a candle to Dragon Age: Origins, but I still finished it like 3 times and have all the DLC >.> curse you Bioware.

5. THE OLD REPUBLIC

Still early to say, but this seems like a pretty sure bet for #5 after 30-40 hours, especially with most of the other major candidates for the 5 hole being games released several years ago and I just got around to them now. Huge, polished, fun. Co-op KOTOR with my girlfriend. What's not to like?

4. DEUS EX, HUMAN REVOLUTION

Really, really solid follow up to the now moldering original. Best stealth game play since Thief. Beautiful game with a lot going for it, but a few niggles here and there hold it back. Could slip to 5 as TOR gains steam.

3. BASTION

Simple story delivered with incredible style. The game play isn't much to write home about, but the music and narration is SO GOOD it elevates everything. A really memorable experience.

2. TO THE MOON

Only 5 hours long and containing very little "game play" or it would be #1 with a bullet. Beautiful story beautifully told. Arguably the most profound/moving narrative I've encountered in the medium to date. One of a precious few games that moved me to tears.

1. SKYRIM

Huge, buggy, flawed, but insanely ambitious and enveloping. It's a time devourer on a scale that only MMOs and Total War games can lay claim to. These Elder Scrolls games are a unique experience that I'm not always in the mood for, but I was stoked for one right before Skyrim hit, and boy did it ever deliver.

My top five:

5) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Boss fights notwithstanding, this feels like the original and there is little higher praise.

4) Skyrim
Would be higher, but should have had several months more testing before release - far too many bugs/glitches which ruin the freedom and immersion; the game's key selling points.

3) Portal 2
Attention developers: this is how you make great games.

2) Minecraft
Points for bravery and creativity.

1) Dark Souls
Extraordinarily deep, darkly beautiful and staggeringly rewarding. The only "masterpiece" released this year, in my opinion.

I'll pitch in:

Best:

1. Batman: Arkham City
2. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
3. Sonic Generations
4. Crysis 2
5. Portal 2

Skyrim/The Witcher 2 get disqualified because I haven't managed to finish the damn things yet, though they're certainly great games.

EDIT: Honorable mentions for Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Alice: Madness Returns, and Trine 2.

Worst:

5. Brink - I wouldn't say it's bad, more that it evoked a "meh" response from me when I actually got to play it, because I had not known it would be a strictly competitive multi-player shooter with a quite literal throw-away campaign. It was rather unpolished on release, as well.

4. Rage - I'm sure it's a fun game, but I couldn't get past all of the issues the PC version had, it annoyed and infuriated me, causing me to declare it as a waste of 24 GB.

3. The First Templar - Poor AI, poor combat, missing animations, low quality detail and dusty look overall made what could've been a promising game just be forgettable.

I'll simply go on hearsay for the last two spots as those are really the only "bad" games I can think of that I've played which were released this year.

2. Duke Nukem Forever - I believe it got a worse reception than it deserved simply due to its reputation and that people are ignorant of its actual development cycle and the fact that Gearbox essentially Frankenstein's Monster'd a completely new game together from the remains of 3D Realms' in the space of a year and a half or so. I'm not really sure if this should take "The First Templar"'s spot, honestly, simply because I was interested but all of the negative press after it was released made me decide to avoid it.

1. Call of Juarez: The Cartel - I'm not even going to say anything myself, merely provide some links:
