Couldn't limit to just top 5:

Fallout 4 - 364 hrs (was at 100% achievements until the Nuka-World DLC)
Borderlands 2 - 324 hrs
Endless Legend - 154 hrs
Star Trek Online - 139 hrs
Civilization V - 125 hrs
Binding of Isaac - 122 hrs
Borderlands - 105 hrs (+40 on PS3)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown - 95 hrs (+ 40 on PS3)
Doom 3: BFG Edition - 87 hrs (+ 80 at least since I had Doom 3 and RoE since they originally came out)

Honorable Mention: Half-Life 2 - 55 hrs, but I've been playing it since it came out, so add at least 100 to that for a few playthroughs.

PS: This doesn't count Mass Effect Trilogy (at least 120 hrs), or Blizzard games (Diablo, Diablo II + LoD, Diablo III + RoS, Warcraft III + FT, Starcraft + BW, Starcraft 2: WoL, HotS, LotV, Nova Missions + Co-op (probably 100 hrs just in co-op - and probably 2K+ hrs in Blizzard games over the years)). Or my consoles from Atari 2600 to PS3/Wii U.

Total War Rome II - 163 Hours

Dark Souls - 105 Hours (plus at least half that on my xbox 360)

The Witcher 3 - 83 Hours

Dark Souls II - 66 Hours (I am not sure how this happened and I think Steam must be wrong)

Dark Souls 3 - 53 Hours

Total War Warhammer - 42 Hours

I actually do play a much wider variety of games but these are some of my favorite franchises and they just take a long time to play them. Although, apparently I have much less time to play games than most people on this forum which does not surprise me at all.

These numbers would be more impressive when I was younger. I'd be absolutely horrified if I can see how many hours I dumped into Call of Duty 4 or Gears of War on my 360. I played through Mass Effect 1 like 5 times so I'd imagine that's up there as well. Plus I used to play WoW *shudder*

Wow, some of those numbers...
Let's see, I'll have to make some adjustments to make it right:

1. Skyrim - 439 hours. Mostly messing around with mods really. Never liked the vanilla game much.
2. Borderlands 2 RU + Borderlands 2 - 403 total.
3. Deus Ex: Human Revolution + Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut - 229 hours.
4. Dark Souls: PTD - 171 hours.
5. Torchlight II - 100 hours.

Bonus mentions:
6. Dark Souls 2: SoTS - 100 hours.
7. Styx: Master of Shadows - 87 hours.
I'm really impressed you got 87 hours out of Styx. I really enjoyed it but I clocked 12 hours from 1 playthrough. You must know every inch of that game by now!

Dota 2 - 643 hrs
Path of Exile - 99
CS 1.6 - 87
TF2 - 21
Dirty Bomb - 18

Haha, I really only use steam for Dota. POE is good fun though sometimes, when I need a quick diablo fix, but don't want to play Diablo 2.
I played CS a lot at my friends house on his account.

1. Mount and Blade Warband -495 hours. My favourite game of all time. A large portion of those hours are spent in mods.

2. Civ 5 -280 hours. I play this game quite a bit with friends. We use a balance mod though since the base game was starting to get stale.

3. Skyrim -232 hours. My actual play time of this game is quite a bit higher since I first owned it on 360. My Steam time is essentially the amount of hours I've played a modded version of the game.

4. Fallout 4 -158 hours. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a desire to play it again. I feel like I've done absolutely everything and with the way the skill system (or lack of) works, there's very little replay value. I'm sure I'll put in a lot more hours once some major overhaul mods come out.

5. The Witcher 3 -143 hours. I recently started my Death March New Game Plus playthrough, so this number is probably going to double.

New game + on the highest difficulty.

OT: Its a damn good thing LoL isn't a steam game. I played that for 5 years and would prefer not to know that number.

1. Dark Souls 2 - 704 hrs
2. Total War: Shogun 2 - 532 hrs
3. Empire: Total War - 365 hrs (amazing since its the worst game in the series imo)
4. Rainbow Six Siege - 290 hrs
5. Dark Souls 3 - 287 hrs (and shooting up when the dlc comes out)

I'll list all my games over 100 hours

Team Fortress 2 - 689 hours. I played alot to get my weekly item drops when crafting hats was a new thing. Then I got the hats I wanted and realised how pointless the whole exercise was. Wish I could get like 200 of those hours back.
Killing Floor - 444 hours
Skyrim - 316 hours
Borderlands 2 - 143 hours
Fallout New Vegas - 127 hours
Civ 5 - 123 hours
Xcom - 122 hours
Killing Floor 2 - 121 hours (and rising by a couple of hours a week)
Total War Shogun 2 - 106 hours
Age of Wonders 3 - 106 hours
Fallout 4 - 96 hours (will rise when I play Nuka World)

1- Borderlands: The Pre Sequel- 215 hours
Not suprising. I did end up playing all classes including the dlc (but I spend the least amount of hours on those two) however only Anthena is the highest level among my characters (level 50).

2- Borderlands 2- 165 hours
Kinda the oppersite to The Pre Sequel. Axton is my only main and I played main dlc on him on normal mode.

3- Deadstar- 58 hours
It was my current game on Steam but with the current lag, poor matchmaking balance and lack of actual playerbase had lead me to start playing Costume Quest (needed a change of pace).

4- Spiral Knight- 37 hours
I can't believed this is on the list. Ok sure it was fun at first until it started to hold my wallet hostage when I needed this 0.01% rare item in order to advance the story. I guess some of the hours was invested in the mindless farm to get it when it can be bought with real money in the auction house.

5- Iron Brigade- 11.9 hours
That was a fun game (if only I can get people to multiplayed with). I did spend many hours trying to get the reward parts by getting good grade. I did end up mastering the map level by using the ideal parts and weapons and knowing where and when to deploy the turrets.

EDIT- Ok some people are mention their longest game time outside of Steam-
Guild Wars 2- I played this since launched which is 4 years ago and I'm still playing it today.
Guild Wars- Somewhere over 5 years I think? I only bought it sometime after Faction was out and it was the mmorpg that got me hook on the gerne!
Pokemon Diamon- Somewhere over 200 since that was the game that I did catch them all, well enough for me to get the cerficate (a few legendaries were missing).

Age of Empire 2 HD - 467
Skyrim -272
Neverwinter - 174
Civ 5 - 79

Aaaaand the all time winner that's not on this list is .... WoW - 10 fucking years!

This is kinda weird because I don't remember playing Civ 5 for more than few h ;/

On Steam:

- Civ V - 250
- Witcher - 150
- Age of Empires II (with all expansions) - 150
- Rome Total War - 130
- Mass Effect - 105

Of course, games with more hours than this does exist outside Steam:

- WOW - possibly 4.000 hours if I cumulate all my /played
- LOTRO - far less, but 500 at least
- Europa Universalis III - more than 500
- Morrowind - more than 400 with replays and mods
- Hearts of Iron III - 300
- Starcraft - did quite a lot of multi in early 2000s so several hundred hours
- Oblivion - 250
- Civ IV - as much as Civ V

Terraria - 276 hours
Mechwarrior Online - 204 hours. Probably more total since I played a fair bit before it was on Steam.
Robocraft - 198 hours. I've quit this a while ago.
Borderlands 2- 184 hours. This number shouldn't be increasing anymore.
Dark Souls 3 - 124 hours. DLC will probably prop this up, but not sure by how much.

I don't have Steam. I could have not posted in the thread, but just I thought it was very important for you all to know that.

Left 4 dead 2 - 1,060 hours
Fallout 4 - 574 hours
Left 4 Dead 526 hours
GTA V - 459 hours
Skyrim - 420 hours

GTA IV says 392 hours and the episodes say 87 but those are waaaaaay inaccurate since I've been playing the disk versions since launch so they definitely deserve skyrims spot

I play a lot of different games I guess, because I don't have tons of hours in any one game. I'm showing top 8 to show my love of Spelunky.

1. Rocket League 164 hrs on record

2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 80 hrs on record

3. DARK SOULS III 67 hrs on record

4. DARK SOULS? II 66 hrs on record

5. XCOM: Enemy Unknown 55 hrs on record

6. Insurgency 53 hrs on record

7. Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition 44 hrs on record

8. Spelunky 41 hrs on record

Other games I've definitely spent at least 50 hours on but not via Steam:
Morrowind (in the hundreds of hours), Deus Ex, Dark Souls 1 (PS3), Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, Valkyria Chronicles, Halo, and probably a few others.
