Mass Effect 3 has ticked a lot of people off, it seems. I myself have not played the game, but apparently it was so bad that several of my friends added it to their list of worst games they'd ever played. So with that in mind, I decided to put MY top 5 worst up here, and invite you to share your own list with me and others. Counting down, we start with...
5: Okami
Yeah, I know, it's considered a great game by all. But for me, I just could not get into it. I played the game, beat it, and was bored throughout the entire thing. To be honest, I got a bigger kick from watching OTHER people play the game, and even then I was playing my Game Boy while I watched. Don't get me wrong, it's not a game I hate. I just don't really care for it. Wasn't fun for me, is all.
4: Gears of War 2
I played Gears of War 1 and loved it. I played Gears 2... and did not like it much at all. To be fair, I did like some things from it, such as Dizzy and RIDING A DAMN BRUMAK. But even putting aside the story that seemed to just be thrown at me (and the characters that just took it in stride despite how sudden these story twists were to me), I just felt like I was playing Gears 1 all over again, but with meat bags that took more bullets. And to tie it all up, the general of this game and the last "boss fight". All I can say is "Give me my RAAM back!"
3: Suikoden IV
I love the Suikoden series, it's one of my favorite game series of all times. I played 1, 2, 3, and 5 in that order, and then I finally got to play 4... and I started weeping. The story was weak, the battle system ticked me off, the characters were flat, and the FREAKING SAILING!! And one of the main staples of the series, getting all 108 Stars of Destiny was far too damn easy. You barely even had to try! Not to mention that, for the most part, you didn't even NEED to use any other character (outside of when the game forces you to) outside of the three characters that leave with you when you're banished! The previous Suikoden games (and the one after) had characters that seemed so interesting and so vastly diverse in combat abilities that made you want to play through multiple times just to use different characters in the party and see how that worked out. The ONLY things I found good with the game were the main hero's character design and the Tactician that joined you.
2: Pokemon Black/White
I've played Pokemon for years and have watched it decline into this horrible pile of crap. The new Pokemon are just plain unoriginal or totally stupid (A trashbag? Gears? REALLY?) and the so called Main Baddy irritates me to sin. And that bullcrap with beating the Elite Four only to have to go fight the Evil Organization of this game and afterwards have a HUGE jump in the difficulty levels of other trainers' Pokemon? I have friends and family who've stopped playing the game because of how bad it is. As much as I hate Platinum, Black and White were even worse.
1: Guilty Gear 2 Overture
Oh man, where do I even BEGIN? I'll give you props for going in a new direction, Guilty Gear. But you failed. HARD. The story was weak at best, most of the characters were unlikable, the combat was way too complicated (I mean, I don't know of a single person who didn't just hand control of the Masterghosts and such over to the computer) and the missions... *Sigh*. Also, the fact that there were only 7 playable characters, only 2 or 3 of which were from previous games. I mean, granted we got to play as Ky's son, but other than that no real connection. Where's Chip Zanuff, Potemkin? What about I-No, where's she at? And we only got to play as Ky for one stage. ONE STAGE! And it was a bloody "Guard this spot" mission! I think the ONLY good things we got were the music and the hint that Ky MIGHT have married Dizzy. Some people could find this game fun. But for me and other Guilty Gear fans, this monstrosity of a game ruined hopes and crushed dreams for us. And now, with Arc System saying that since they've finished Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend they're going to work on the next Guilty Gear game, we can only pray and hope that they go back to the glorious fighting game that they were, and bring back all of our beloved characters.
