No mention of Danny Carey from Tool? He uses his drumming to summon and bind demons!
I too was shocked to find that almost no one mentioned Danny Carey. Don't know about binding demons, though. Tool's website is ...odd. Don't believe them!
Here's my list:

1. Danny Carey of Tool - Lateralus. 'Nuff said.
2. Dominic Howard of Muse - Go listen to Assassin. Holy hell, the man can roll.
2. John Bonham of Led Zeppelin - I don't know how anyone wouldn't put this man in their list.
2. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters/Nirvana - Also played for Queens of the Stone Age a little. One of my heroes.
2. Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters - Everlong. 'Nuff said.
2. Neil Peart of Rush - I don't know much Rush but the little I've heard has blown me away.

Please note that aside from Danny Carey, I placed everyone the same. I find it difficult to say any of these guys are better than the other, aside from Danny. If I wasn't at work on a restricted computer, I'd link a YouTube video of Danny playing the last 2mins of Lateralus. Pure gold. Who else uses a gong?

You find it hard to say Bonham is better than the others in your list? I love them all but damn...

P.S Bonham used a gong. And Danny Carey's solo on The Grudge is his best effort thus far...

1 john bonham (led zepplin)
2 keith moon (the who)
3 Alex van halen (van halen)
4 Ginger Baker (cream)
5 Chris Slade (AC/DC)
There is more than Classic rock music BTW
okay two things

1. cream played the blues not rock.
Lies. Cream played Classic Rock, with a blues influence, like every other classic rock band there ever was.
And Van Halen were Hair/Glam Metal...

Maybe you're right about Bonham... I just don't know as much Zeppelin as I do the other bands I mentioned. Though, hearing that he used a gong, he's already a few steps higher in my eyes. Ah, gongs... *Sweep giggles to himself quietly*

Yep, A big shiny one. Just watch him playing 'Moby Dick' Then he can claim his rightful place on your list...

I will watch it as soon as I get to a computer that can access YouTube. But don't get too excited. He'll stay at #2. Everyone else'll drop to a tie for third. I mean, it's Danny Carey!

Here i'll save you some time, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdJWPgzS_lQ from about 1 Min 30 in... I hope you got time on your hands when you do see it.

Check this if you want your mind to blow afterwards... It's Thomas Lang, the only living man who is better than Danny Carey.

Neil Peart - Rush
Igor Cavalera- Cavalera Conspiracy
Joey Jordison- Slipknot/Murderdolls
Danny Carey- Tool

No one else matters. Dave Grohl is a great musician but hardly the best drummer. And Lars Ulrich is a whiny bastard thus negating him from the running.

And Neil will never be trumped for one reason: Go to YouTube and look up the live demo he did where he spins one way and his drums spin the other and he nails that shit. After that is Danny then Joey and lastly Igor.
