Love youtube. I'm watching videos about sharp declines/never joined first person shooter games and noted trouble getting people to join me on line.

Big recent ones:
Battlefield One
Call of Duty Infinite Warefare
Titanfall 2
Gears of War 4
Halo 5

From what you know, where are the gamers?

From personal experience, Overwatch is going strong.

Battlefield 1 has fallen off, but still has a steady base so long as you want to play Conquest mode and nothing else (RIP Operations).

Dunno why: I refuse to get Overwatch... obstreperous as I have its competitor Battleborn! I'll try Battlefield 1 again as soon as my "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" medley on youtube is over. Need to shoot something!

Oh, wait, you meant for online? Well shit. Titanfall 2, I guess.
Does titanfall 2 have an active online base? I thought the game sold poorly.

OT: overwatch atm is the game everyone and their mom is playing. As much as i would like to play it, I'm more of a team deathmatch kind of guy.

Titanfall 2 is kind of fail. The most played game modes are the ones without any titans at all. The devs of that game don't actually seem to like giant robots. They put no effort at all into letting you customize your titan, but it has dozens of weapons for your pilot.

Metal Gear Online 2 is coming back to PS3 in May!!! That's what I'll be playing online the most in 2017 and beyond until a better online shooter is released, which has yet to happen in basically a decade.

I mean, I'll have to give it some time, but Splatoon 2's testfire was a blast.

Unreal Tournament. Hopefully Quake Champions will bring back the good old Quake feel to fps games.

Main reason to buy the Switch personally - Splatoon 2 is going to be big

I've been getting back in to CSGO again, though I now suck which is kind of discouraging. I guess a 1 1/2 year hiatus does that to you.

Unless it's Kaiserschlacht and even then, that's normally an incredibly one sided romp in favour of the Germans. Or it has been the last ten times I've played it.

But yeah, Overwatch, BF1 and CS:GO are the popular ones. I guess we could shoe in PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds into this as well, as that's getting as lot of YT and Twitch time.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Paladins. I've been having a good time with it. I need to check on Infinite Warfare again and see if they have finally added custom emblems though.

Everyone is on overwatch. Regular updates, no season passes or paid DLC. What is not to love?

My main criticism is that it needs more maps.

I haven't checked on Titanfall 2 recently, as much as I love it. It's a damn shame it wasn't more popular, but it did come out at a really stupid time (near Battlefield 1).

But if you want a game where a LOT of people are playing (and likely will be for some time) OVerwatch is the place to go. I too thought I was only into team deathmatch style of games, but OVerwatch won me over pretty quickly. The game is still so focused on kills anyway.

The players are either in CS:GO or Overwatch. They are the most popular, more recent online FPS games.

Um...the cosmetics, items, and loot boxes are definitely paid DLC.

Still really digging Warframe, though on a slow at the moment cause of the Uprising event in Overwatch.

Its F2P co-op, but funnily enough its paid elements are far less invasive and odious that Overwatch's or many other full price titles with microtransactions.
