Looking over this list again I'm impressed on the variety of genres.

(great adventure, platformer. I got quite invested in the characters and the world)

(very fun gameplay especially with the duel wielding, interesting story, great characters - Sergeant Johnson)

(great addition to the star wars universe, intriguing locales and story.)

(great kart racer, cute cars, had a lot of fun with the family with this)

This list is in no particular order

Alpha Protocol - love this game. IMO this is the best spy story experience I've ever encountered and I've seen a lot of films and read a few books
Bullet Storm - a game that have done something new in fps department
Planescape: Torment - I dont remember it much anymore other than that I loved the humor
Disgaea (original) - I had such a blast with this game. It is literately never ending game with so many possibilities. Plus dialogues are just great.
Dark Souls - amazing game. incites feelings of love and hate
Devil May Cry 4 - hated it at first but then played it for hundreds of hours
Mirrors Edge - amazing. can play it over and over again and never get bored.
X-Com/UFO Enemy unknown(original) - for its time it was epic and it is still playable all these years later. it is so good that I am not even sure what is better original or remake.
Dungeon Keeper 2 - countless hours were spent torturing minions and I still get an itch sometimes to do it again.
Prince of Persia original and remakes - epic games some more than others. a series without any bad games.
Lode Runner - for a really old game I still love it. 2d remake was great too

Going to bookmark this after I've posted. That way when another "Top 10" or "Top 5" pops along I can compare. There has only been one significant change this time around, and that's my Top 3 losing one of it's members which has stood their for so long.

10: Saints Row 2 - My favourite of the series, quirky action crime fun which was just fantastic given GTA's tragic fall from grace during the Seventh Generation.
9: Silent Hill 3 - Another favourite of a series (oo!), but yes I do know that it's more than likely that Silent Hill 2's story is more well put together, but in all honesty I find Silent Hill 3 less of a bore to play and it's story and symbolism choices still shine through. I'm not trying to put 2 down there, either, I love 2 with all my heart (shame I got the worst ending).
8: Call of Duty: Black Ops II - While Infinity Ward has been crashing and burning since just after MW2's release, Treyarch has been upping their game. Yes, it's far too linear and has many set pieces and gimmicks, but Black Ops II does make the effort with the Americans looking just as evil as the foreigners, some levels being open, extra side missions and more. The Zombies is quite good as well (underrated in my opinion) and the multiplayer stands out as one of my favourite in series. It's just a shame that a lot of it needs fixing.
7: Rayman Legends - This place was going to be Crash Bandicoot, but after I thought that you couldn't get any better than Rayman Origins, these crafty evildoers released Rayman Legends with even more interesting level designs, a wonderful 'upgrade' to the aesthetic and those music levels make me smile harder than the general friendliness of the whole thing.
6: Halo 2 - ODST and Halo 2 fluctuate for my favourite in series. The former is underrated and the latter overrated, right now though I'm leaning Halo 2. I just love almost everything about it from the jump-abouty, duel wield, organic vehicle filled gameplay to the well told story on a grand scale. Halo 2 is one of those rare games that can say that not everything has to be a personal story for one to get invested in it (see BioShock or the Silent Hills for that).
5: World of Warcraft - I still enjoy it a lot, but for some reason it just kinda fell from my Top 3. Shine on you crazy diamond.
4: Call of Duty: World at War - I don't know why I like this so much. Maybe it's because it's got this overly grim tone while trying to be famous World War II films? Still I find it very entertaining, even if the gameplay didn't evolve much from Call of Duty 4. It's grimness has always made me think of it as some sort of precursor to Spec Ops: The Line, telling the rest of the genre how stupid it's being. War crimes of all factions (except America, obviously) are presented to you and you even have to choose in some of them.
3: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (including Enemy Within) - I couldn't get into Enemy Unknown at first, but then it absorbed me and wouldn't let me go. Despite it's incredibly flawed gameplay and rather beautifully designed yet unfair difficulty curve, I still enjoy it far too much. Spec Ops: The Line is still my "GOTY" for 2012, but XCOM is the game I enjoy the most. I also love Enemy Within, probably more so, even if I'm not so excited about the MECs.
2: TES IV: Oblivion - I just enjoy it too much. It's writing isn't good, neither is it's gameplay or rendering. Still I get lost in it every time I have a go at playing it too much. Shame that it's achievements suck because it's the only Xbox 360 game I've fully completed (though I prefer the PC version).
1: FarCry - So much to complain about like the AI, but so much to love like the design and scale. The story is cliché but kinda charming, and the enemies are colourful and challenging to face. I've played it enough times to recount pretty much all of it from memory, to the point where I got all bar four of the 360 version's achievements without even noticing.

So yeah, mostly western RPGs, with a couple RTS games alongside, and seemingly out of place third person shooter (Mass Effect 2) and action/adventure (Shadowman) thrown in. Three offerings from Piranha Bytes would indicate them as my favourite developer, which makes sense. So yeah.

A few close cigars include Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate 1, Witcher 1, Mass Effect 1 and Tomb Raider 3, but alas, only ten can be chosen. So yeah.

I'll give you ten... no order, just 10 games I've enjoyed a lot, and remember, many do not make the list that should be there!

1. Xenoblade
2. Pokemon (red, silver, ruby, black etc)
3. Zelda... like many of them!
4. Metroid Prime (whole trilogy!)
5. Smash Bros
6. Tales of Symphonia
7. Warcraft III
8. Goldeneye007 (N64)
9. Batman Arkham series
10. FIFA

and even then on this list there are maybe over 30 games compiled by cheating into just 10

My list has fluctuated a bit, I've got to edit my profile. Regardless of slight changes, the top 3 games remain the same:

1. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus -- I love this game for all very different reasons -- part gameplay, part story, part nostalgia, just there are so many reasons why I love this game. I'm very happy that New 'n' Tasty! is coming out; you bet your butt I'm going to get that.

2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- Why I play video games: To experience an incredible story.

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl -- I'd be the textbook definition of a casual if it weren't for this game. It's become a tradition for my friends and I to play this game, and has been for the past four years.

4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare -- I will admit that the Call of Duty series has descended quality-wise, but I still cite this as my favorite first person shooter ever. I'd still be playing the multiplayer, had it not been plagued by hackers.

5. Mortal Kombat (2011) -- Similar to my love of Abe's Exoddus, I can't exactly pinpoint why I love this game. It's a solid fighting game with a solid story.

6. Batman: Arkham Origins -- Most people would say Arkham City as the superior game, and they'd be right. But I've never felt more close to being the Dark Knight than I did playing this game. Plus, Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker are two of my favorite actors, so that definitely helps.

7. The Orange Box -- This one might be a bit of a copout, but man, the hours I've put into Team Fortress 2 is insane. And I never get tired of the saga of Half-Life 2 or Portal's first entry.

8. Tekken 3 -- Kickstarted my love of fighting games. Just like the first two, only a lot tighter and easier to play.

9. InFAMOUS 1/2 -- Another copout answer. The story of the first game is just fantastic, as well as the atmosphere. But Cole's VA is far superior in the second game, as well as the gameplay. The first's gameplay wasn't bad, but it could use a little tweaking. 2 did just that.

10. Mirror's Edge -- The replay value on this game is INSANE! I always come back to this game, every couple of months, I just have to buy it again! One bad thing about it is that it is tragically short. That's pretty much the only flaw I can find with it, though. A damn near perfect game cut short.
