Its hard to say, Games that were shocking 20 years ago arn't so much now.

The first Mortal Kombat game caused games to get a rating system like movies, looking back now its funny.

I'l go and have a think and maybe come back with a top 10 list.

From all the whining I've heard about it, I'd imagine so. My favorite lately has been Splatterhouse on the 360.

Solider of Fortune: Double Helix. It's a violent freaking game, especially if you're the kind of person (like me) who enjoys taking limbs off with the knives or, shotgun. Also (noob question) has any of the Postal games made it onto a console?

Nope, postal has been PC/Linux/Mac only, unfortunately. Hopefully this will change with Postal 3!

God of War and Gears of War both deserve to be on the list.

I don't view something as violent unless it disturbs me. Games with over the top violence such as Mortal Kombat and GTA just strike me as funny. A violent game to me would be something like Manhunt or Silent Hill.

Agreeing with Manhunt, but Silent hill there isn't all that much violence going on (aside from ZombieNurseRape), i agree it's an amazingly scary and disturbing series though.

Fallout 3 with Bloody Mess. Because shooting someone in the head with a pistol definitely makes all their limbs explode.

Kind of upset that Conkers Bad Fur Day didn't make that list =/
MK should be #1 based on principle, it is the reason the ESRB was made!

Postal 2 would definately be in there, the game gives so much opportunity to be a class A pervert/psychopath. Same goes for the Manhunt games.

Can't think of any other games right now.

Not to my knowledge, also good choice, I also loved the hit detection and bullet decals in Double Helix. It was the first game that actually put one where I hit. It was so much fun killing people in that game.

OT: Manhunt should be on there if it isn't (to lazy to watch the video) and so should God of War 2. That part where you bash the guys head in the door a few times was awesome.
