so every year, Game Informer does this thing where they award that years top ten Heroes, Villains, Moments, and Losers, and I figured I'd get your guy's opinions, so needless to say I decided to do something similar, but to eleven. so yeah. what do you guys think. I'll tell you mine in no particular order.

Jade: She's not a soldier, bounty hunter, or any of the usual crap. She's a reporter, and she just wants to find the truth before its too late. Also, she's the kinda girl you don't wanna mess with, AND not look too slutty.

Price: not only does he have awesome facial hair, he is also the kind of veteran who you want to follow cause you know you'll master the art of badassery.

okay, those were kinda bad, but whatever, my mind is more made up on the villains

I'm going to get shot down in flames for this, but I will stand up for the Master Chief. Not the Halo agames necessarily, not the supporting cast, or the stories, or any of the gameplay innovations or degredation.

Master Chief is well known, even by people who barely know that video-games still exist. He's become a symbol, one way or the other, and since what a lot of people are after in this business is being remembered, and creating a memorable character, he has achieved this.

Master Chief for just getting the job done
Commander Shepherd because no matter how you play him hes a bad ass
Razz from phyconauts, because he was probably the funniest hero in a game I have played

Amaterasu. Because I never thought a wolf that didn't speak could be made of so much win.
Seconded.
Also Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Because he's just an awesome character.
I bet that a lot of people will choose Gordon Freeman.

Dude, stand up for whatever opinion you have, if someone flames you for saying that then they are just elitist dickheads.

As for me, I will also agree with Master Chief. Why?

As for me, I would like to give a shout out to ever single RPG character that you make in games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, and even those with titles such as Revan in KOTOR and Shepard in Mass Effect, those are the most overlooked who deserve more praise that others.

Once again I would like to vote the Arbiter but it doesn't take a genius to know who in the Halo series really gets all the attention. Masterchief might not be the greatest character in the world but damn it the man has become a cultural icon of a profoundly wierd generation. People look up to characters like him because without a real face he's easily empathisable, plus as others have said:
He gets the job done

I'm a big fan of Etna from Disgaea. I don't know about her being among the top heroes, but she's certainly my favourite of the decade.

The lone wanderer. Depending on how you play him/her. If you are good, you save an entire post apocytaliptic world and it's people. Can convince the "president" of the United states to kill himself, you kill 5 story tall monsters and cause general mayhem, all in the name of good. That's pretty awesome if you ask me.

James Sunderland. Clerk. Husband. Protagonist Extraordinaire.

We miss you, James. Your cameo-only career doesn't do your character justice. Leave your dead series where it is and come have super-adventures with us in a madcap cross-country roadtrip.

We'll laugh, we'll learn, we'll collect random trinkets and blunt objects.

Just in case.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion didnt feel like the main guy had a personality, he just did things and watched other people get all the real glory, more so in Oblivion then in Fallout 3

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. Of all the games of this decade he certainly is the most distinctive, pretty much every gamer is familar with his image and personality and far in the future he'll be remembered more than any other character that came out between 2000 and 2010.

My favourite Villian would have to be the Jackal from Far Cry 2. The game had many flaws but one of it's best features was how it fleshed out the villian and made you understand his motivations and state of mind. While most games have incredibly cliche and typical villians, usually just evil-crazy or evil-greedy arseholes, Far Cry 2 gave us a better and much more interesting character. Props also go to Sarren from Mass Effect, he seemed evil-crazy throughout the game until the final confrontation in which he revealed he was trying to save the galaxy through less confrontational measures, you were both going for the same goal.

BATMAN!!! Wait, he technically doesn't count, never mind.

Um... James Sunderland, Heather Mason, Amaterasu, Dante, Alex Mercer, and Razputin are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Edit: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, I just remembered Travis Touchdown. I like that guy.
