If you've found the first in this series and know the context for all of this, then give yourself a cookie
so on we go:

Saren: the reason he's on this list is that he's a traitor on the highest level. Not did he betray the council or his own race, he betrayed all of organic life to these monsters. and for that he deserves the very pit of hell.

Fontaine: not to spoil anything but this guy lied to you, exploited you and then when he gets what he wants, throws you out like a used battery. also, he's the perfect antithesis to what Andrew Ryan stands for

SKX (Condemned): mostly cause he's like a videogame version of Hannibal Lector, but also because of the that he CUT YOUR FINGER OFF! what can be said about him that hasn't already been said.

Dr. Steinman: he's probably the most messed up of the psychos in rapture you'll ever meet, this guy is something out of an episode of x-files. yes he's the kinda like Boba Fett in that he's barely in the game, but there should have been more guys like him in rapture.

Microsoft's videogame division: those sick bastards! first they force us to get those stupid avatars whether we want to or not, and then they force us to pay real money for fake clothing and props and now they want us to pay for arcade games to put into our "gaming rooms". WTF!!! why not let us get the stuff as like "awards" or something to that effect, and let us have our live games in these "gaming" rooms!! and yet we keep coming back, just because they give us achievements

Fontaine mainly because just an asshole bent on revenge.

Michael Atkinson: because of him Australia has no good games unless they're heavily censored.

Fox News: need i say more.

JoshChristian: he's just a spoiled brat who needs to get laid by jesus.

I agree with you about Saren, glad to see other people appreciate his villainy.

Darth Revan- He violently uprooted the old established order, he did it to protect it, so he's more of an anti-villain, but still he reawakened an old order of evil Jedi.

Nightmare- He's arguably the most compelling villain in a fighting series, that's got to be worth something.

Jack Thompson- He's an evil hypocrite, who only recently was repaid for his idocy.

Yeah, those avatars really get in the way of everything I do, I can't enjoy mass effect 2 without my avatar appearing every 4 seconds. Yeah, I totally remember microsoft forcing to buy a lightsaber or I wasn't allowed on xboxlive. Yeah, and totally having to pay for arcade games like we always have SUCKS!

Anyway, sorry about that. I just competely disagree with your statement about Microsoft.

Are we counting the complete lifetime of these villains, what I mean by this is that many people may want to put say Dr. Robotnik (just a random exmaple, i know he's not just from the last decade) because of a couple games where they liked him. However their are a great, great, fucking great amount of games where he is beyond terrible.

So in short, do we count the entire characters works, or can we select small parts?

Edit: Also, I completely agree with your point about Saren, it's nice to see him mentioned as I could easily have seen him forgotten.

I'll have to go with Fontaine as well - my first time playing Bioshock, the "twist" took me by complete surprise. I also like how for the first half of the game, you're so sure of who the "true" villain is, and then it turns out you were completely wrong. Really good storytelling, in my opinion.

I always really liked Revolver Ocelot from MGS - yeah, the whole "Liquid Ocelot" thing is pretty retarded, but hey, it's MGS. What I like about him is how enigmatic he is throughout the series; just when you think you have him figured out, he throws another surprise your way and has a really cryptic phone call, or shoots another fellow baddie, or something along those lines. I also liked how they sort of "humanized" him in MGS 3, giving us a glimpse of the more complex aspects of his character.

Saren? Saren doesn't hold a candle to Jade empire's villain. Although, I can't say his name. It would spoil things for you.

The Vaygr from Homeworld 2. They're so cool and mysterious. You may also refer to Makkan (SP?) who is the one who re-united the Vaygr clans to a common goal.

I disagree with Saren:
Sure, he's an asshole, but he's only really helping the Reapers because he's been brainwashed to do so.

I'd instead nominate the Reapers themselves. Come on, a race of immortal, sentient robots with an utter contempt for organic life that wipe out all civilization every 50,000 years for no apparent reason? That's badass. Also, they reproduce by liquefying people.

Agreed on Saren,
his goals from the beginning were good, Sovereign just twisted him into believing that he could somehow help organic life by helping the Reapers (by proving organic life's worth so that, although they would Reap this time, they may not in the future).

Gee, thanks for providing us with, you know... a LINK! (-_-*)

In any case, your picks don't seem very strong. All but one have a title for reference, so if your reader doesn't know who the flying dutchman you're talking about, they can't agree or disagree.

Furthermore, your points don't seem all that convincing. "He CUT OFF YOUR FINGER!" So? I've played Fallout 3; I've blown people's heads off willy-nilly! I've even played the Point Lookout add-on where someone friggin' CUTS OUT PART OF YOUR BRAIN! Finger? Big deal!

I nominate General Shepard.

Introduce shark-jumping on such a massive scale that its being considered as an olympic sport to a previously serious game series? Fuck that, I'll just throw a knife in your eye!

Unless it was all part of his master plan...

Can't believe nobody's actually voted for Andrew Ryan yet. Easily the best video game villain of last decade.

Fontaine and Andrew Ryan are easily the best in my book, although I don't really consider Ryan a straight-up villain. Sander Cohen and Dr. Steinman are also incredibly awesome villains.

I also agree with the OP on SKX, he's a serial killer, killer. A murderer who murders murderers! How is that not awesome? Plus the level where you

fight him in the apple orchard was terrifying.

I'd also like to mention President John Henry Eden from Fallout 3, Kessler from inFAMOUS, and Scarecrow from Batman: Arkham Asylum.
