Torn: Modern Warfare 2 replacement, or Shiny New Mass Effect 2?

As the title states I am in a bit of a pickle. I'm sure this stuff has been done to death, but I can be one of the most indecisive individuals when it comes to this stuff. So here goes.

I had a copy of Modern Warfare 2, but it got scratched. I'd beaten the campaign and played enough online to get the general feel of it. I liked it quite a bit, and it was fun playing with all my friends, but FPSs tend to get stale for me rather quickly. I do really like the game though, but I'm just not sure if I should drop the $60 dollars for it yet again.

On the other hand I could buy a new copy of Mass Effect 2. I never played the first one, but I love BioWare RPGs a WHOLE lot. I played the first KotOR at least 10 times through, and am currently on my second play through of DA:O. I know everyone is popping giant wood over ME2 and how great it is, but with games like that it's hard to tell if it's just hype.

So my fellow Escapists, I ask for your help. Not the smartest thing to do, I realize, but it's not like the employees at GameStop will help me much (I tried asking about ME2 today. No dice).

Well me personally, I wouldn't even have a copy of MW2 in the first place
So Mass Effect 2.

Get the original ME first, I suppose? It's pretty cheap now. MW2 only has to offer spec ops; campaign and regular multiplayer just didn't work out for me, so I won't recommend that. Haven't played ME, though.

No offense, but you've even got a Mass Effect (2?) avatar. Not what I'd call unbiased ;)

Easy, go to staples, get ask for the video game disc cleaner, then buy Mass Effect 2. My MW2 got scratched up, I bought the disc cleaner, works like a charm.

As you've pointed out, people are popping substantial boners over Mass Effect 2. You may count me amongst them.

It's soooo good. It's way, way, way too early to call but I'm saying this game has a hefty chance of goty material.

For whatever bullshit that means to various publications (hint: none)

Modern Warfare 2 is shit (before you have a go at me, I own it. It's the same as the first)

Go for mass effect II. I got the collector's edition and the case is so shiny, and the packaging is just freaking awesome!

Depends if you have live and how many of your friends have it. I liked the first Mass Effect but i also have enough people i know in real life that play CoD that theres usually about 5 people online to play with, so id go with CoD if you have other people to play CoD with, because the campaign's... well, not the greatest, but its always fun to play with other people.

The answer is simple. You've already played and finished MW2, so go with the fresh experience: Mass Effect 2.

correction sir, mw2 is worse than cod4, cod4 is a massive improvement to the multiplayer of mw2, i liked the single player but beyond that it was utter shit

OT:

Mass effect, go buy the first, it rocks the shit, i got a nice used version for 12 bucks at my local game store, so im sure you can get a copy cheap, its so much better to have a file to transfer over, and im a huge bioware fan myself, and i loved it just as much as kotor, different, but awesome still

im assuming since you play with friends and whatnot you are talking about 360, in which my version of mass effect 1 and 2 are awesome and work perfectly for it, definitly recommend

Look it pains me to say it because I've had a long term love affair with KotOR for so many years, but I've been seduced by her younger, more attractive and vivacious sister, Mass Effect 2. And you know what, I haven't looked back.
