TB tells Fun creators to direct further communication via his lawyer.
Fun creators now want to talk via email with trusted people carbon copied in to confirm the validity of emails. https://twitter.com/FUNCreators/statuses/434785536096489472
Suddenly Fun Creators are backing down when they realise this isn't play time anymore this is serious time.
At some point it has to set in that they have no case and he will legally eviscerate them if he actually takes it to court.
Him refusing to talk further and telling them to speak to his lawyer from here on is the equivalent of him telling them to bend over because they're about to take something up the ass.
Small dev team, gets a game out, has a guy who 'knows legal stuff' think they're god. Also, Fun Creators are based in Jordan, so there might be a cultural gap going on too, although I doubt it.
It's quite funny about the whole we're bigger than you thing, TB works for Polaris (aka The Game Studio), which is a subsidiary of Maker Studios, which control over a thousand Youtube channels, consistently comes in the top three most watched networks on Youtube and has income in the tens of millions of dollars per year. All things considered, in the event of lawyers being deployed my money is on TotalBiscuit.
The public climb down after making a very direct threat is hilarious.
We said we'll sue him if he doesn't shut up.
He says to direct all further communication via his lawyer
Why does everything have to be entertainment first? The point of the series is to inform the consumer, it's not like he's showing the option screen because he finds them hilarious.
Total Biscuit saved me $15 and a lot of frustration. His preferences are different from mine and sometimes he drags too much on this or that point, but his videos are still both interesting to listen to and - more importantly - informative enough for me to see how this or that game handles a stuff I'm interesting in. 'Fun' Games made a game that would be no fun and waste of money for me if I'd to buy it, uninformed of its numerous weaknesses. And judging from the way 'Fun' Games handle unhappy reviews, they'd censor whatever I'd have to say about it. From my point TB did me a service with this review. I'd like to see both the review and research stream video entirely restored so other people will be able to have some basics for informed decisions as well. So yes, go Total Biscuit.
Err, that because Yahtzee likes to quote: 'nitpick like an amphetamine fuelled chimp' and and whose entire shtick is to rag on a game while providing jokes.
TB on the other hand provides first impressions and is centred on PC gaming, where the ability to say adjust the FOV of a game or rebindable keys is far more important to the viewerbase than a penis metaphor.
It's funny because they're still stickin to the TB fabricated everythin line. Even went as far as to edit their own email in the most dickish way possible.
yeah...FUN is really just hurting themselves worse by this. TB could literally re-release a critique but replace all visuals with crude MS paint drawings as a sardonic statement loll (at least that's what I'd do)
tho seriously this is another poor showing by devs, but then again the whole YouTube flagging and copyright system is a broken mess :/
Ya know, TB's "This is so awful, you should never play it" review was the only thing making me actually consider buying this. If only to watch the train wreck. But now they're just being jerks, so screw them.
"Our company is a lot bigger than your little youtube channel".
He doesn't realize how big Maker Studios is, which TB said is now handling the legal processes.
They're around 500 employees on their campus with tens of millions in investor capital, primarily from Time Warner.
These guys are so fucked, I can't wait to see it happen.
Not that it would really take a good lawyer to beat them down as they've purposely laid mountains of evidence to their wrongdoing. Hell, I'm pretty sure I could win against them in court at this point in time.

They shopped the email, into... I don't even know.
My brain fucking stopped working.
This has to be some kind of farce. Maybe the company was hacked, maybe it's run by a sociopathic 14 year old.
Whatever it is, between this and the flappy bird guy turning down enough money to not have to work another day in his life, this has been a fucking weird two weeks in gaming news.

They're just fucking with us at this point. They have to be.
But they can't be, because that would be even more fucking stupid. They have actual stakes in the success of the game they made. So how can they just...
Am I dreaming? This can't possibly be real. This is way too surreal.
Those brilliant bastards! Their site does say they're "temporarily in Amman, Jordan". If they get the proper angle on the hole they could come out wherever they wanted!
This is not a legit claim. FUN had already responded via Twitter to TB's lambasting of their game, and were quite amicable about the whole thing; embarrassed a bit, understandably, but amicable. Both TB and FUN have stated through discussions on Twitter that this was not an action by the company, but an individual claiming to be an employee.
TB posted a letter from Fun where they pretty much said that they don't give a fuck and are 'bigger' than him. Shortly after he posted it they accused him of faking it to which he replied with a video directly from his email account.
Now they sent him pretty much a threat letter and forbid him to make it public. He made it public.
Fun did make the claim.

Likely. I can't be arsed to actually use Twitter, even for this.
Still, I find it difficult to believe that professional game developers - professional anything, really, with dedicated public relations people and everything - could behave in such a manner... without also being Phil Fish. I admit sometimes people behave pretty stupidly, but deliberately provoking one of, if not the only video game critic with legitimate legal certification and experience, not to mention has very recently set legal precedent in his favor for exactly this kind of situation, is "needing immediate and drastic medical attention" levels of stupidity.
As TB suspected earlier, this mess feels a lot like an elaborate hoax by some jackass who gained access to the company email account and twitter feed. Whether weaponizing TB and the Polaris network's legal muscle to execute an amateur developer whose only crime was publishing a well-intentioned, but otherwise pathetic excuse for a game as their first attempt, or simply for his/her own "lulz", the motivations remain to be seen. On the other hand, as I said previously, sometimes people really are that stupid... and I pray the ambulances get there in time to stop the bleeding.
I saw both of TB's videos and to be honest even if he'd uploaded them minus his personal commentary I still would have come away with the same thoughts: the game looks, plays and sounds like arse. In all honestly all TB had to actually do was audibly point out the obvious.
These so-called FUN Creators created a horrible game that any idiot can see is god-awful. Even a positively reviewed version of game would make it look bad if it included any amount of video footage. What an absolute joke.
Now we wait for this post to receive a "takedown notice" too
For a second I thought that this was simply another stupid company that thought it could abuse the system and not get torched but then it looked like a bunch of juvenile shit-heads who had a moment of brain-fart followed up with bone-headed temper-tantrums.
Now... Now this story has gotten so bizarre that I cannot begin to guess what the end result will be or who was responsible however, however I will be mighty pleased to see the offending party get a good'ol fashioned beatdown from our mighty Biscuit.
P.S. Who the hell is this PressFartToContinue guy that he not only appears on most of my subscriptions but now appears on unlisted videos, shit?! 0_0
