Just browsing TB's channel, no video from him on this fiasco yet. Most of his followers are still largely unaware of what's going on.

This shit will only truly go nuclear once he releases a video about it like what happened with Gary's Incident. Then we'll see what FUN has to say.
I feel like TB's not released a video on it on purpose. Maybe since this happened so soon after Day one garry's incident he thinks they're doing it for attention, he's made posts on twitter saying to send everything to his lawyer, so I'm thinking he doesn't want his viewers at large to see it.

So... Total Biscuit/Cynical Brit/John Bain posted two videos on YouTube not too long ago, a first impressions-video for Guise of the Wolf, and a recording of the research stream for the same game. Guess which videos have been hit by takedown notices?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ask3Dn1ocIQ

... this is just unbelievable; do these people seriously not see how this kind of attempted censorship harms their product and reputation? And this isn't the first time, either; TB got hit with a takedown notice for his video on Day One: Garry's Incident as well when he blasted that game for being, pardon the language, utter garbage.

I can't wait to see how FUN Creators (yes, that's their name. FUN. I beg to differ) try to justify this, because I can't imagine this going over particularly well.

Captcha: third degree...

Well, I reckon FUN are gonna get burned by this.
Actually you know what ? I get it. Why would i want a bunch of randomers talking about my games. Especially if it's a bad game or they are known to say bad things about their games. Sure it's free publicity, but only if the reviewer liked it. If the reviewer hated it, and is a popular figure, then it's bad for business. Yes it's a way to control information about their games , but i do believe only certain people should be allowed to " review" games not every tom, dick and harry with a camera ( i'm not saying that's what total biscuit is).

Its not that i necessarily agree with the reasons for taking down/flagging videos. It's just that i understand where they are coming from.
It's dishonest and fraudulent to not inform people about the pros and cons of a product. In fact there are several laws in the US that prevent what you're trying to argue for.
combined with the fact that an opinion piece is protected (not american myself but i'm pretty sure it's there regardless) and that basically saying 'no you can't review this' and taking it down is so damning you may as well say 'yes it's a crappy product and i don't want anyone knowing that'

Did... did they not figure out how to have an inventory that arranges itself instead of just toggling icons in a binary fashion? This was a coding challenge I overcame when I was 9; these guys on the other hand are professionals offering "consulting services".

Well usually whenever issues like this arise it's supposed to be the networks that handle it, so it's probably more that Maker Studios told TB that if another incident like Gary's Incident were to happen he should let the network handle it. Not going public about it for all of his fans to see also helps the lawyers I'd assume.

I'm shocked anyone thinks they can take TB down he doesn't fuck around and this is proof, sending emails and other threats just gives him ammunition. And besides if I made a really shit game and actually had the sheer stupiditiy to release it instead of trying to fix the damned thing then I'd take the critiques to heart and try to fix the game. Spitting in the face of one of the biggest reviewers out there is one of the worst things you could do maybe short of taping yourselves writing the email and then sending that to TB as well.

They really don't get that they've fucked up big time, maybe after they get royally screwed someone will fix the youtube copyright system and stop this abuse, and then maybe I'll get elected president of the universe and declare mars as my summer home.

Oh bloody hell, like TB needed another reason to rant about his personal affronts. He is going to milk this for months.

They're interfering with his job. It's not a "personal affront," he makes his living off his videos.

If FUN hadn't acted unjustly he wouldn't have a reason to rant. It would have been just another crappy game he reviewed.

Personally, I'd like to know which companies were trying to mute criticism of their products so I'll know not to buy from them in the future. If the backlash is negative enough maybe these types of people would think twice before trying to take down a review of their crappy game. Hopefully, it also brings more attention to how crappy Youtube's way of taking down videos has become.

So basically, the most convincing defense of FUN's position at this point is 'They're a company! Companies could not possibly act so stupidly, so they must not have done it.'

Wow. Newsflash: companies are made of people, and to quote Patrick Stewart, "People are dumb."

Considering that the subject matter is barely a week old with no resolution as of yet(at least none that I've heard of).

No.

As a side note someone was kind enough to re-up the video, and after having seen it I just have this to say: When the horse is a company blatantly censoring criticism for personal gain, I see no reason not to beat that horse into a red smear. I mean really it astounds me that FUN charged people money for that, let alone that its 15$(more elsewhere I'd imagine).

In conclusion, I take it by your post that you don't care to hear more of this, to which I have but to ask: If you're not interested in further discussion, then how about letting the people that are continue to do so? As oppose to snarkily requesting people to drop it for your sake.

Hahaha!
No.

Incidentally, here's the video again. Back up on TB's channel but with all its views removed. Go watch it again a few times, get that score back up:

TB's video is actually back up. Well, the WTF is one, anyway. The Let's NOT Play one is still down. FUN are still trying to play the victim.

Since pretty much every post now boils down to "These people are teh dumb," you're not so much 'discussing' the subject as 'coming up with new and exciting ways to say the same thing over and over.'

I made a bit of a lengthier post in the other thread about this subject, but to sum up here: the lead dev most likely has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He isn't dumb, he's deluded. He thinks he's special, that his game is amazing, and that TotalBiscuit knows that it is an amazing game but was coerced into saying that it isn't. That's the best explanation I can come up with. Dunno if anyone else believes me though. "They're really thick" seems like the go-to guess for this kind of behavior.

Well judging by the previous page o' posts I'am going to disagree with that statement. While there have been a fair number of posts with that sentiment, I don't feel that there have been enough of them to say every post is. Although even if that were the case, I'd just credit that to the silence(from the involved parties) on the subject over the past couple of days. Hopefully now that the video is back up for TB, we'll get some news worth talking about. On the other hand there is the possibility that the silence will continue, which considering the perplexing moves of FUN so far, wouldn't surprise me.

I utterly disagree.

The inverse argument to that would be only certain companies/people should be allowed to make games, and that equals an occupational ban - for no other reason that you didn't like what Tom, Dick and Harry had to say about Random Product X?

That doesn't work for me, an is certainly not the kind of society i'd want to live in.

Everyone gets to make games if they want to, and everyone else gets to critique them.

I just checked TB's Twitch page and I found that his past stream of the Guise of Wolf Let's NOT play is still on there, so if anyone is interested in watching that it is still on his Twitch.
