Kung Fu Chaos(Xbox) is perhaps the very definition of underrated.

Literally EVERYONE hated it either for its cartoony aesthetic, or because they couldn't tell what was going on while playing the game.

Okay, it probably shouldn't of been released on the Xbox, which at the time was considered the "big gruff tough hairy manly system", what with the cartoony graphics and use of actual style and color and all. And if you just stick with the game for about five minutes, you can easily see and figure out whats going on, and how the game plays, etc etc.

But oh well. I still liked it, so bleh...

Red Faction: Guerilla
How come people dont find it fun to destroy a city block?

Dante's Inferno (at least it seems to me anyway)
killing demons is fun

Prototype
Slaughtering zombies, monsters, and super soldiers in New York

I still dont see why people dont like these games its pretty much just killing every thing in the game with (little) consequence

The concept for those games sounds fun enough. But honestly, when a game offers a good 8-12 hours of gameplay, and pretty much all of it consists of just making things go "BOOM" or "SPLURT", it gets kind of old after a while.

Plus Dante's Inferno was a wasted opportunity. It could have made for a terrific and atmospheric view of HELL, but lost its steam after the first few circles. At least in my opinion it did, anyways...

Brutal Legend. That's right, I said it. I enjoyed that game. So what that it was a RTS that sometimes acted like a hack-and-slasher and other times like a RPG. I liked the variety in gameplay, and it all tied into the story quite well.

The multiplayer wasn't great (because it wasn't balanced), but I don't really care about that.

For Dante's Inferno and Prototype the reason no one likes them is because they literally rip off other titles almost completely. I mean come on, Dante's Inferno is God of War in Christian Mythology. And Prototype is basically Spiderman 2 mixed with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. If anything Prototype is overrated.

Red Faction was fun because it brought you so many ways to blow up stuff and had an amazing physics engine. It was underrated because it came out around the same time as inFAMOUS, Prototype, AND UFC Undisputed.

Now for my underrated title, it would have to be Bushido Blade 2. This game was everything a weapon based fighter should be. One hit to the right spot can kill you. Realistic. Still the best fighting game with weapons today in my eyes. Sorry but as long as Kilik is on Soul Calibur that games gets shunned by me.

EDIT: Gotcha Force. The most fun party game to come out on the GCN. Think pokemon combined with Medabots, the size of toys from Toy Story, and a plot that has Japan written all over it.

Best 4 player split screen multiplayer ever. How many other games have Ninjas, Nuclear Weapons, Cowboys, Starships, Transforming Vehicles, and Super Heroes all in the same game?

NOONE plays that game.
I play it...

I'm not too sure if it was underrated, but Pikmin 1&2 are always fun games for me. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the game was inspired by Miyamoto's fascination with gardening at the time.

Spore.

I don't blame the people who think it stinks since it changed quite a bit in the final product and it's mediocre as an RTS. But dammit, I had fun creating shit loads of creatures and having them fight each other for my amusement. And the Space stage isn't that bad either.

Vampire Rain is undoubtedly my first pick for underrated games. Ask just about anyone what they think of and they'll say it's shit. Having finished it six times, I can safely say otherwise. The people who say it's bad simply don't know how to play it. It's a stealth game where you actually have to use stealth, and for that plus some very minor issues, it gets ripped to shreds for even trying. I would embed the review that was done by the same reviewer who did the AitD review I have embedded in the spoiler box below, but I can't find a single link to it.

Alone in the Dark (2008) was another game that was torn apart for some minor issues. The first complaint is the driving sequences. Having done both sequences (that I know of) I can say I've never experienced a single glitch like what everyone's been whining about. The combat works, is surprisingly easy to handle and the melee combat deserves a special mention for not just being a press of a button.

The Sonic Riders series is one I thought was good and got undeserved flak for no reason I can think of. I enjoyed the gameplay, the music is fantastic, the graphics look good and there's about as much storyline and replay value that you'd expect from a racing game.

Game names have been put in bold for your reading convenience.

Henry Hatsworth is a fun inventive Puzzle-Platformer-RPG that received critical praise, but nobody bought.

I remember the day my 8th grade music teacher brought in one of those for the class to play. I had the second highest score. Fun day.

I remember Amplitude, that game was great fun.

Under the "Obvious Underrated Department"

Psychonauts - Game is quirky, funny, and fun to play.

EarthBound - Most people I know of have not played this SNES game, but it's still one of my favorite RPG's of all time.

Jeanne D'Arc - This one is probably a bit of a stretch, but it has it's moments. It's a solid Stratagy RPG for the PSP that could be overshadowed by the Final Fantasy Tactics re-release.

As for Red Faction, Prototype and Dante's Inferno, I think those can't really qualify for the "underrated" title due to the exposure they've gotten. The hype may have caused higher expectations and they fell through when they couldn't hit expectations.

I'm probably going to be blacklisted by some people for saying this... but so be it. It has to be said.

Killer 7.

Incredibly underrated.

I feel that Resident Evil 2, and Deadrising are incredibly underrated games compared to their relative high quality (ESPECIALLY DEADRISING, OH MY GOD!!!)

There wasn't a single aspect of Deadrising that I didn't love with my heart and soul, and nobody really seems to give it much mind.
