Oh screw you New York. I was thinking that swine flu wouldn't be a problem because Mexico is far away from me. Then you had to go and get infected. Great.

Well maybe it won't spread into Connecticut.
I hope you're right, if it does... well... to the bunker!
I'm not really worried about the disease killing a ton of people. I'm more concerned that people will get paranoid over it. People will stop going to their jobs for fear of infection, schools shutting down etc.
Yeah in Milford they already are planning to shut the schools down if the virus enters the state, what a great end for my senior year.

The only way to save Humanity is to kill off animal rights activists and sacrifice a mighty pile of our finest rams in a sacrificial burning pyre to the sun god! May Huitzilopochtli smil upon us and our invasion of Mexico to regain the glory of the Aztec Empire! But, after the Ram sacrifices, we must turn to the conquered Mexicans! We must rebuild The Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan to pull out their hearts! The sun god must be appeased for when He goes away to battle the forces of darkness, lest the Jaguars, and the Great Winds, and the Volcanoes, and the Floods come back and kill us all!
DEATH FOR HUITZILOPOCHTLI!!!!!!!!

/THREAD
Quick you get the rams and I'll get the virgins we must satisfy the sun god.
YOU!
You know that Virgins are worth more than rams! Try to fool me, will you?! YOU get the Rams!
We must appease Huitzilopochtli!!!

Imagine if you check it tomorrow, and the entire map is just covered with "dot-less markers" (fatalities). Scary, I thinks.

And there are some suspected in Sydney. Not too far away. Australia is no longer the perfect utopia it once was ):

It was a utopia? What about the pirates?
Well, for the population to think it a utopia, the musta made a lot of sacrifices to Huitzilopochtli.

[awesome comic snip

Seems like this applies to not just twitter but most forums.

Seriously, if it does become a human strain pandemic and wipes everyone off the planet, you have my iron-clad guarantee that I will eat my hat.
You had to comic-ninja me, Shanks.
And I'll be fine, nobody where I live goes to Mexico, they all escaped from there illegally.

And it's so blown out of porportion it's sad.
Yeah, I'd seen it about 10 minutes before stepping into this thread, so it was still top of the mind.

I like how everyone assumes the next one is "the end", and then forgets about them in less than a month. No one remembers SARS, or Avian Flu, or African Killer Bees, but at the time they were as bad, if not worse than swine flu.

I remember SARS and Avian Flu. The people have short memories, however.

Nothing in MA yet...

You know, it may look like a lot of them, but it's only about what, 70 something on that map? If that?

This will probably all blow over within a month.

FUCK! I'm stuck in Oklahoma, right between Kansas and Texas. Also, there are cases in Dallas, so that means it's closer to where I live than I thought.

EDIT: Ohshit, I just noticed something. One of my friends is in mexico at his brother's wedding.

Worst comes to worst, I'll go bush (or move to Tasmania).
I'll see your Tasmania and raise you Alaska. Which is also where I live and there is nothing close to here, not that I really care about the flu anyway. Ive got an amazing immune system you see, it keeps all sorts of nastyness out.
I see your Alaska and raise you Antarctica. I wonder how the disease survives the cold?
