Well in Aus for trade ins we dont have much choice.. EB or JB is all we have.

I refuse to give business to my local EB since one of their staff laughed in my face and called be a noob because I bought my PS3 and GT5 Prologue from Japan. The idiot doesn't realize that theres no regioning on PS3s and it works just fine..

I never trade in games to be honest. Still have tons of old games that I don't play anymore. Whenever I think about trading one in that little voice comes back and says "But I might want to play it again sometime"
Great minds think alike. And apparently have the same voices in each of their heads.

Do many people do this? Im finding a real hole in my pocket lately since theres so many titles out and coming out that I want.

I took my copy of gears 2 down to the local EB and he was going to give me $25 AUD. It just seems silly to me (when I payed $100 for it a few weeks ago) or does it work out much better in the long run. Because every 4 games I get I get one free.. But I wont ever get to play them again if I get bored..
I feel ya mate. For a while, they would do those deals, like if you trade in Fable II within 7 days then you get $80 back (which was pretty good, especially if you priced matched your original purchase from JB and only paid $79 for it). But they don't seem to be doing those deals lately. I generally hang onto my games now, even the crap ones, only because it's really not worth anything if you only get $12 back for it. you never know, you may want to play it again some day, or maybe a friend of yours might wanna play it.

I used to trade in games, but then I started missing them and went out and re-bought all of them. Now I just keep them and hope my parents might chip in to help me a buy a game until school is done and i can get a job.

It's not really worth it.
Considering how little money you get from it, you'd be happier overall just keeping hold of your old games. Years later, you'll feel all nostalgic and want to play them again.
That's true, I often wish I could go back and play some of my old N64 games.
This thread is timely. It has also convinced me not to trade in Assassin's Creed and GTAIV for Street Fighter IV even though I may never play them again.

I guess my kids may grow to think Assassin's Creed is the favorite game. They'll probably be too busy playing Assassin's Soliloquy 4.

After I beat Ico, I thought "That was fantastic, but I can't see myself playing it again."

It's the only game I regret trading in, since now it is out of print and nearly impossible to find where I live (and where I have seen it, it's pretty much the same price as a new game).

But, in the end, it's just a video game. I've got loads of other games to enjoy and keep me occupied, so it's not like I lose sleep over it. If you're strapped for cash or want a new game, it might not be a bad idea. Really, I only regret spending money on a bad game or one that sits on my shelf.

Never. Something always makes me want to go back or play something. If I had to, I'd sell it online.

No, because local shops are for local people, there's nothing for you there.

Seriously though, don't expect a good price when trading in games, its' rarely worth it considering you might want to go back and play again some time. So no, I don't often trade unless its a game I fiercely hate.

No. An especially loud NO! if you're thinking of Gamestop. They are the biggest ripoff in the gaming industry.

If you want to get rid of a game, sell it on amazon or ebay.

Same goes with buying used games.

I trade in games, but feel really cheated with what i get, and i dont shop online, paranoid i guess, but a few weeks ago i traded some games into HMV now their doing trade ins, and i got £6 pound less than what i paid for the originally, so i was pleased with that.
