Tragedy, how soon is too soon?

Well I find it incredibly offensive how they're obviously only trying to use a huge tragedy for their own monetary gain (they're making a stupidly low-budget movie, knowing a ridiculous amount of people will watch it no matter how crappy it is. Sort of like what Asylum films are doing, only they're riding the waves of a mass murderer instead of a summer blockbuster).
It's incredibly tasteless and egotistical, but there's not much you can do about it. They're free to do whatever they like, even if they're being massive twats.
Let's be clear: I'm not one to dismiss something as 'too soon' so long as it's a genuine attempt at humor. I think I've made a few Breivik-jokes myself in the last few months.
What I find offensive isn't that they're talking about or even joking about the incident. It's the fact that they're obviously trying to make money off it. It has an air of approval for the murderer's actions about it.

Depends on the person. If you didn't care, then too soon doesn't exist for you. Case in point: people cracking jokes about Steve Jobs' death. They don't care about the fact that he died so soon, it's because they just don't care. I'm not making them out to be heartless bastards, that's just what they think. So... in short...it's relative.
Steve Jobs dying wasn't a tragedy. It was sad, sure (well, for others. I didn't give a shit). But "tragedy" is a bit much.

Well, the whole Mass Media thing is offensive. Just turn the TV on and be disgusted. (especially at lunchtime)
Of course it's too soon. As soon as the victims (or rather relatives of the victims) find it to soon it is exactly that. They deserve their mourning time and our sympathies. You arguably could even "disgrace" this event all you want but at least you have to make sure that it doesn't come to the attention of the victims. YouTube Clip? WRONG IDEA...
But If you are one of those types who don't care about the victims you make money out the tradegy. But that's everydays practice. The News only work that way. They make a living out of the tradegy.
Just imagine, someone special in Norway would travel to the that filmmakers home shoot his daughter down and make a film about it a couple of months later. Now how would the filmmaker feel then?
