You know, I was HIGHLY disappointed in this iteration of Ace Combat, but after seeing this, I can definitely tell wasn't due to lack of effort on the part of Project Aces. But it seems that there are quite a few people out there who did enjoy the game, so maybe all that dedication didn't go to waste after all.

Man I desperately need to pick this up. I've played a bit and safely say all those crying ruined forever over the new dogfight mode were massively overreacting as I predicted.

I'll be frank. The campaign mode of this game was a 4 and a half hour quick time event. The 'cool' dogfight mode, while awesome in the demo and the first level, reminiscent of 'Tomcat Alley' for sega cd, ends up having to be used for about 90% of the dogfights in the game, so don't hope to actually win a dogfight by flying the plane yourself. Nearly every level introduces some new game mechanic where you spend the entire level getting popups telling you how to use it, THEN you never see it again.

Additionally, they've included a multiplayer mode, that I'm assuming is supposed to be the focus here since the story mode lasted less then 5 hours and has basically zero replayability. However, the multiplayer is fairly terrible, and feels like a CoD multiplayer match where all players are thrown into a high school gym with RPGs and respawn every few seconds.

Also, about the story:
It's a COMPLETE rip off of CoD. Here's a rundown... You're in Africa, fighting militia. Militia detonates big bomb, killing, or injuring or something, a playable character who was in a helicopter. At some point you act as an AC-130 gunner and assist special forces units on the ground. Russians gave them the bomb. But they're bad russians, not the russian government. Bad russians take over russia. You go help in russia. Bad russians lose but launch an attack on the US with the super weapon. You go stop superweapon. Sound familiar anyone?
