Hrm... never played the original, but this one does seem fairly mindbending...
I Never played the original in its time, just recently got myself a copy of it. And for its age, it looks absolutely awesome, be sure to locate your quicksave and quickload keys, cus the difficulty is nightmareish.

Ok...the first thing I noticed was thedevelopers name. "Spicy Horse"? I'll be playing this game for that reason alone.

Then I watched the trailer. I am now VERY interested.

Best part is, it's due for realese on the 14th, that's two days after my birthday. :D

Also, the gun, in a previous image I believe it will be in the shape of a pepper grinder, I'll be looking forward to see how she acquires that. Will it be a find or a boss drop... hum one can only wonder.

I never played the last game, I think it had some sort of problem running on windows vista that caused me to keep falling through objects, oh well, just got my paws on it again so I guess it's time to give it an other shot.

and may I just say, when it comes to the release data, it better not be late...

Edit:

I would also like to mention that there is some game play footage out there, this is but mealy a trailer. What I'm talking about is actual game play, I shall repost with the links when I find them.

Y'know, Madness Returns looks awesome. And Rift looks pretty good, too. But being forced to watch an ad in order to see a trailer feels rather like being billed for the service of bringing you your bill.

lol i never really played the first game but the concept of
alice as a "blade wielding, gun totting" action heroine just seems really weird.
OT-looks like GoW+uncharted with a slice of void.

*sighs* Such a happy touching trailer.

That was so beautiful

McGee knows why we liked the original that is obvious!

I really hope they do a re-release of the original Alice to coincide with the new sequal. $500 - $875 is just a little too rich for me.

That's some weird shit for sure, but have you tried the other link? The one with the jewel case?

Just noticed those were all used rather than new, sorry. Surely there's another source to get it from? Don't see why not grab a used one as well though (although at 40$ for a game like that that's that old, you might want to find a LOT better deal)

Holy sh... I was wondering how they could top the freakishly disturbing atmosphere of the first game but oh ... OH! ... DAMMMMMMN!

It's times like this that I'm so, so glad I picked up the original when I did. I can't believe how expensive it's gotten. Trust me though, you will be very hard pressed to find this game for less than $40. I'll tell ya; even after 11 years, the artwork in the original still looks amazing. Also, I think McGee said something along the lines that EA actually lost the source code for the game.

Yeah, the "gun" she's using literally is a pepper grinder (from 'Word of God'). In the original, the Duchess (the first boss) attacks you with one, although you never get to use it. This looks like what I hoping it'd be, but my main concern is that the gameplay will be too God of War-ish. The original was a true TPS, where the camera was always behind Alice by default, although you could manually rotate it. This made it easy to control, much like an FPS. The trailer sort of appears that the camera angles may be all over the place which I think would make the combat feel less natural. I hope this isn't the case.

Playing the first game will make the context of the story for this one make waaaaaay more sense. So if you can I'd do it. Hell I think I will anyway.

IGN's gameplay videos really show the game off well, from the power-ups (size-changing, of course) to the combat (bashes, bombs, and butterfly sidesteps) to the platforming (nice momentum with a little double-jump).
