well to be fair if you are in combat you probably do have 99 problems and a ***** wont be one of them XD

but yes EA needs to SACK their entire Marketing division! they really are the most retarded bunch of monkeys working in the the videogame industry!
Problem List:
1. My boots smell.
2. I haven't had a shower in days.
3. I'm getting low on ammo.
4. I just saw my best friend die.
5. My last squad got killed.
6. I'm nowhere near my family.
7. I'm getting hungry.

In all seriousness, though, it does seem like an odd little trailer. The meaning's a bit too vague for my liking.

I like the trailer, I don't see the problem with the song?

Hell, it fits fine, you're a soldier out in war, you definately have more then 99 problems, and a ***** isn't going to be one of them. (No, your problems will be bullets, c4, grenades, rpgs, tanks, bombs, collapsing buildings, snipers, airstrikes, claymores, mines, etc, etc.)

99 Problems is a great song and Jay-Z was a very good rapper in his prime. I don't understand people's blind hate of hip-hop. A lot of it is fantastic music.

But it didn't really fit the video.

This was horrible. I saw it on TV earlier today and thought it was the worst. I did make me laugh when at the end the words "above the call" were put up on the screens. But rap sucks, especially this commercial talentless bullshit and should be no where near my games. Oh well, I'll still buy it, I just hate EA.

I think Call of Duty is the "*****" being referenced in this trailer.
Yeah especially when at the end it says "Abode and beyond the call".

People are pissed over a song.

Because of a song. Nice. A song that had nothing to do with game play at all. Nice.

Of coarse the Escapist gets pissed off because the sound track doesn't fit with the game. Jay-Z is a good artist and Battlefield is a great game series. I see no problem. Sorry it wasn't some rolling stones or other shity rock artist that those of the PC 3rd Reich love.

I love how the "At least Black ops trailer with eminem had the Lyrics "till I collapse", so it was relevant to war". Not at all. "Till I collapse Im spilling these raps long as you feel em
Till the day that I drop you'll never say that I'm not killing them
Cause when I am not then I am stop pinning them
And I am not hip-hop and I?m just not Eminem"

He isn't talking about war, he is talking about holding his image in Hip hop.

99 Problems and a ***** aint one? Yeah I am sure that the soldiers have 99 problems and a ***** aint one as well.

I got 99 problems, and its with the Escapist elitist.

In this thread: whining and moaning about something that will neither be in the finished product, nor affect the overall gameplay experience of said product.

Seriously guys, how will a song choice for a minute and a half trailer change anything whatsoever?
Thank you for actually being sain. Unlike every one else in this thread.
It's not the song that people are pissed about, it's the implication that rap songs and explosions are enough to sell the game, regardless of relevance to the actual content of the game.

It's an implied insult, not unlike in the nineties when Hollywood tried to sell kids movies with catch phrases like 'It's rad!' It shows what the publisher thinks of it's audience... which isn't much.

Hope that helps you understand what's going on here ^_^

And to be more helpful, it's 'sane'. Sorry, I'm an English teacher. Concluding lines should never have speeling mistakes.
That's not what most people here are getting at though. Most have referred to Eminem's "Till I collapse" and how that was much better, when that was just trying to sell the game as well with rap. It had no meaning to war, which every one is saying it does.

You mentioned how its a rap song, which really doesn't matter. Jay-z isn't a mainstream rapper , most kids don't even know most of his songs besides Empire state of mind. If they were really doing the Hollywood approach then they would have use a song by little Wayne. Say it were a rock song, that wouldn't be any better. What are they gonna do use some song by rolling stones? oh great those guys again.

Point is people need to get over this trailer. There is other trailers and the game is no less serious for it. People who get enraged over a game trailer to this magnitude is beyond ridiculous. People need to get over the fact that rap is now used in trailers over rock. Perhaps they could of use a more serious rap song but who cares, as long as its not some depressing BS then im fine with it.

*Watches video*

... Please tell me that this game does not require Origin and, if it does, PLEASE tell me they got rid of that "We can track everything you do" bullshit that was in the privacy policy.

God DAMN I want this game, but not if I'm giving EA the key to see what I do with my computer! >:-(

I honestly don't see the connection between rap and war. War games should be represented by heavy metal, by something glorious and nasty, like the steel wheels of the war machine grinding and roaring along, music that's epic and repulsive and evil, not overindulgent, cocky and self-assured like rap.
Hell March?
