inb4 swipes at CoD map packs.

OT: I love Wake Island, I only played it in 1943 though. All the others ive never played since I couldn't play bf2. But I think there gonna be very good maps though.

Im probably more excited for this map pack than i was the actual game.
Considering my time in BF2 was almost exclusively spent between Karkand and Wake Island, this is possibly the only map pack i have and will ever want.

^^ same with me. I remember playing Karkand for hours and hours on end. For some reason that I could never get sick of that map. It'll be great to see it back in action. I'm pretty confident BF3 will give it justice :p

I'm really looking forward to this. These are four maps that a tried and true: cream of the crop for BF2. There is no way you can screw these maps up.

I've been enjoying BF3 quite a lot. However, there are still a number of issues that really need to be ironed out. One of my complaints/criticisms is that a few of the maps just aren't all that great. For example, Operation Metro is simply abysmal for conquest games; it ends up being a kill funnel and not in a 'fun' way either.

Still, while there is one crap map and couple of mediocre ones, there are some wicked good maps such as Caspian Border and Operation Firestorm. Some maps just play better in a specific mode, like Damavand Peak in Rush mode. I'd actually say Operation Metro can be good fun with 32p max in Rush.

The fact that I still have blast on the less inspired maps and through the various issues is a testament to the core strengths of BF gameplay -- when the game works.

I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't include Road to Jalalabad. I actually ended up enjoying that map more than Karkand.

But I'm still way hyped for this.

Oh this looks good.

Granted if given the choice I would have thrown in a few more maps from BF2 but I digress.

Also is it wrong that I really really want them to do another Vietnam Conversion? BFBC2:Vietnam was good but my mind is boggled by how good BF3:Vietnam would be with the frostbite 2.0 engine running it.

I'm sure they'll have a Vietnam map pack out within 6 months or so, which I will no doubt end up buying. Would also be cool for them to do a BF2:Special Forces style map pack, with ziplines, teargas, ropes, crossbows, etc. It would fit into the new loadout system much better then when they did it for BF2!

...or a 2142 pack.

I think I just wet my pants with excitement at the mere thought of it.

Hopefully they will make another map-pack like this. I enjoy Road to Jalalabad and Kubra Dam far more than Sharqi and Karkand. And for good messure, throw in Highway Tampa, Road Rage, Dragon Valley and Fushe Pass as well.

Road to Jalalabad was amazing. I loved how the battle transitioned from open to urban combat.

I also really liked Warlord from special forces. I think I have 24 hours on that map alone.

Considering my overall playtime, that is sometime that counts for pretty much all of the maps in BF2. :)
