It didn't worked for Singularity; I can't think of a way to make it work in Bioshock... except as a gimmick that only works on certain places, which was what Singularity did.

I dont like this element. Game would be better without this, it just seems too insane/unbelivible for my liking.
Okay, what is up with all this "this is too unbelievable!" schtick that's popped up around Bioshock: Infinite? I really don't get it, the original Bioshock was far from believable, and even then people seem to be confusing "believable" with "realistic", which is not what we need. In this universe, in this context, a city in the sky with some parallel universes is just as believable as an underwater city where people can shoot bees out of their hands, and there's no flowers!

People are trying to connect these two Bioshocks way too much. They're about fantastical concepts with fantastical implementations. We've seen only one example of this new rip-in-reality-tear thingamajig, and he even explained other ways besides cover that this mechanic could be used. Bringing in allies from another dimension. Bring a skyline to access another area more easily. Whatever.

Ken Levine is a smart guy. He's one of the few developers that has some integrity in his balls and one that I respect. If you didn't enjoy the first Bioshock, fine, I respect your opinion and whatnot. But really, keep in mind that these guys are at least trying something a bit more fantastical and original than another grayish brownish shooter. That, and steampunk is a heavily underused genre, and I'll be damned if anyone kills that buzz for me!

I'm kind of disappointed by this trailer. What I loved so much about the original Bioshock was, even though the science was flimsy, it still felt like it might be in the realm of reality. This kind of thing, to me, seems to involve alternate dimensions, time travel, and basically magic which I don't feel really fits in a Bioshock game. I just don't get it.
Oh please, the original Bioshock was just as unbelievable and flimsy as this one (underwater city with big scuba divers with people who shoot bees out of their hands. Totally real!). The thing is, though, it felt believable within the context of the game, not within reality. It felt like a living, breathing world isolated from the rest of the world within the context of the game. Believability is not the same as reality, which is what I think some people are doing when saying that Infinite looks "improbable". It's a fantastical setting in a fantastical world, and damnit steampunk is a heavily underused genre!

I read "Tear" as in crying. I thought "oh great... a female that gets powers by crying. But this sounds so much cooler then plasmids.

This is all very similar to one of the things you could do way back in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

I hope BioShock doesn't lose all its originality and turn into another boring clone of other great FPS games from the past.

But then even the originality it HAD was only originality if you avoid certain experiences. Still I guess it'd be nice to see the franchise become successful without losing its meaningful core.

Don't sell out, guys.

OH they shouldn't have shown us that, if you want to shroud your world in mystery you really can't lay the mechanics so bare because it kills the feel there is any sort of consistent world going on.

And that multidimension/time travel stuff is a dangerous path to take, it can very easily end up in bullshit.

First off I can't believe there's people bitching already.

Second I pray to god this isn't just a warp in cover mechanic because Red Faction Armageddon already did it better. But if it makes the game non linear even in a purely cosmetic level(the reality thing in the end) this would be epic.I mean there was a possibility to warp a door imagine walking through that door and ending up on another route to pass an obstacle. This could make the game very interesting at least I hope it does...I mean it would be really sad if all the influence of great scientists and stuff will result in an unimaginative cover mechanic.

The best part of that trailer was the part with the horse. I didn't notice the name of the film playing in the theatre though, will have to check that.

One thing that he said during the trailer though that concerns me - he said you could pull in some founders to help you fight the Vox Populi - what if I'd rather fight the founders? I'd rather side with the people with the giant heavily armed airship. :)

I'm not giving up hope though, this is a Bioshock game, so hopefully we will have that choice.

Ohhh, tears as in rips...I thought this was as in like, crying tears.
Eh, seems incredibly shallow. Like has already been said, it's just picking cover from what we can see so far. Hopefully it will actually spawn some depth and affect your game but I highly doubt this.

Oh how I cannot wait to play this game! To be honest, I was a bit indifferent at first. I couldn't imagine Bioshock being anywhere else but Rapture. After seeing the latest trailers though, I've been convinced otherwise! I love the look, feel and spirit of this crazed world in the sky. I only hope that this isn't one of those instances where the hype overshadows the actual quality if the game :/

Yeah, because shooting live bees and fire out of your hand then becoming invisible by standing still was totally within the realm of reality.

And i take it a city in the sky, which allows you to slide on rails like a roller coaster with a wrench sounds More believable huh? :p Or a City underwater where people fire Electricity or Fire to kill big guys in diving suits with drills on there arms (which also protect little girls protect which collect red stuff from dead people) to satisfy an addiction is also believable? :p

OT: This. Looks. Amazing!

Time to change to my boxers =\

I have to say, this mechanic alone gives so much potential to the game to be much deeper, and add a lot more to it.
For those who like a nice long game to explore and have fun in...I would recommend this.
This is imagination.

sorry if this doesn't sound very productive, but did anyone see the movie title 'Revenge of the Jedi'?
