I think it looks fun.

I've never played a brothers in arms game before, but its obvious from peoples reactions that this is rather different. God forbid they change things up once in a while. I wouldn't take this as some kind of sign that you wont get another serious Brothers in Arms game. Perhaps they just got tired of making serious WW2 shooter games. Like everyone else did about 10 years ago.
There's a BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE between "changing things up once in a while" and brutally murdering a well-established IP until it's corpse is completely unrecognizable and only identifiable by the name.

Hell's Highway changed things up - it added a much needed cover system, a third squad, and even let you go all lone-wolf for a bit, making you feel totally badass while still keeping it very much within the realms of the series' established historical accuracy and very realistic game mechanics.

This on the other hand has totally thrown the historical accuracy, plausibility, and presumably the realistic gameplay, the very things that made Brothers in Arms Brothers in Arms, out the window, taken a TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAME, and slapped the words "Brothers in Arms" on it. Frankly, most of those of us wanting to learn what happens to Baker's Squad are insulted. It would have been one thing if they'd just stopped making BiA to make this game and called it something else, but the simple fact that they're trying to convince us it's part of the same series by using the name is nothing short of absurd.

Oh, and to be honest I'd welcome a few more WWII games right now. I'm more sick of shooting terrorists and Russians than I am Nazis.

So you're assuming whatever happens to Baker Squad isn't going to be shown in ANOTHER game that will follow this one?

I don't think they're passing this off as "another in the series". It is most likely called Brothers in Arms because it's going to follow the same gameplay style as the other games and it's being made by the same guys who made those games. You know how Final Fantasy games are? Like that. The same general thing, but different.

You can be upset that they're making this before the continuation of the real story, but there's no need to claim the IP has been murdered

Ugh, really, this again? Look, there's a place for mindless fun games, just as there's a place for more serious ones, and the Brothers in Arms franchise is most definitely the latter. It need not always be one or the other. I don't want every game to be Serious Sam any more than I want every movie to be Machete.

What? No one cares what you think. And especially no one cares what I think. AND MOST OF ALL, STOP TAKING ME OUT OF CONTEXT, I'M SAYING GAMES TAKE THEMSELVES TOO SERIOUSLY!!!. This is what forums are for, people like me who advertise their opinion, but it doesn't really change anything.

Then why is part of a series known for deep characters and constant drama. I don't mind mindless fun, but they shouldn't be making this as a follow-up to a game that ended on a cliffhanger with a lot of loose ends to tie up.

CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!

And how, exactly, did I take you out of context? Look, it's a serious franchise. Referring to Serious Sam again, you wouldn't want to see it suddenly become a gritty, realistic melodrama, would you? It's the same thing.

As for opinions not mattering... what? What's your point?

From the looks of the trailer, not only has it abandoned the characters, the realistic nature of the game, the weapons (tomahawk, mini gun and chainsaw? really?). It has abandoned the cover and squad based tactical combat and the stylization on the characters in the trailer suggests much more of a class based shooter then anything that BiA has done in the past. It looks a little bit like borderlands in WW2.

Having said all that what I said in my first post still stands, I like the look of this, but it is still NOT a BiA game.

If you're gonna do a silly, comedic team-of-four game......
Like this:

I failed to see the joke in that video. Is "Germans die" still a good punchline, or am I wrong to assume we're NOT in the 1950's?

The game isn't even released, and everyone is already thinking they know what it is, its just a teaser, and its probably a spin-off.

and they probably called it BiA just for advertisement, just like the Tom Clancy games, where Tom Clancy didn't even participate in the development

While I see your point brands carry certain expectations. BiA is known as a relatively historically accurate squad based game with a continuous story line. Thus fans of the game expected the story to continue from where it left off. This is almost a completely different game branded as something its not. It would be like releasing a game like Tom Clancys Quartermaster where you play a cooking mama style game in a canteen aboard a US aircraft carrier. Its not what fans expect and want out of a series.

Wow, I really am disgusted by this trailer. Brothers in Arms was a great series of games, and they are just throwing everything out of the window? Ubisoft has lost yet another sale from me :(

I get your point, but, I think people shouldn't speak like they what this game is about, this was just a teaser, maybe they wanted to try something diffrent, they can always go on with the original story. We don't see any gameplay, it could still be squad based, we don't know anything accept who the squad is.

'cause they are trying something diffrent doesn't mean they are abandoning the old story.

I think it is the overall feel and vibe portrayed by the game that is offending a lot of people. There is a certain feel to the game and expectations. It would be like call of duty going from being an fps to a typing game, or if george lucas had made the empire strikes back as a musical and all the main characters were different. The thing is hells highway left us on a cliff hanger and people have been wanting to know what happens and instead they do this.
