I like how people are completely pissed off about the "New York" setting even if its only going to be a mission or two.

i don't know if anyone's mentioned this already, but I was under the impression that after most of IW split and formed respawn, that they still owned the modern warfare moniker while activision still had call of duty - i.e preventing activision from making a game with modern warfare in the title, and allowing respawn to make MW3 but not with call of duty in the title?

i'm mostly going on hearsay and stuff I heard about infinity ward, anyone the wiser here?

You know, there are other major American cities other than New York City. Like, how about a game based in Boston? Or Chicago? Or maybe San Francisco! The only game I can think of that's ever taken place in San Fran exclusively is San Fransisco Rush Extreme Racing.

On another note, though, Call of Duty, want to try something truly original? Call of Duty: World War I Edition. Or Call of Duty: World War II In The Pacific. Think of that.

So most modern shooters like to set their game in an urban environment like a big city these days. And what do these guys do - they set it in dozen major cities. Idiots.

I'm not really that familiar with this franchise, but can anyone tell me what the "MAI3" at the end of the video was supposed to mean?

[sub]I'm just kidding, obviously. But I did get a kick out of it.[/sub]

Cities are like dungeons. Made up of straight lines and constricted areas. Easy to get the lighting just so and make the player follow a linear path with no choices.

I'm starting to think that if they had wanted to do a 'Russia vs. NATO' storyline they should've just dropped the Modern Warfare aspect and went for a Cold War scenario. I mean, maybe it's just me, but these large-scale ground conflicts and invasions between nuclear armed major world powers just seem silly, especially after that entire mission in Modern Warfare (which was excellent specifically because they avoided these massive world war scenarios in favour of more realistic regional conflicts) where the Nationalists got control of one missile site and nearly took out half the United States. At least with the Cold War you could set it in the late 50s or early 60s to help negate the whole 'nuclear option'.

Also, yes, New York has been played out, in both film and video games, long before Yahtzee made any kind of statement on it. The destruction of New York usually applies cheap emotional gimmicks like destroying well-known monuments. I'd like to see conflicts in different cities. Hell, maybe even avoid major cities, go with somewhere random like Detroit or Cleveland. Or don't even go with cities at all. Have the SAS slipping into Russian-controlled Florida through the Everglades, major military battles in the Nevada desert, or convoy attacks in the Rockies. There are some very interesting options for war scenarios, let's hope they try those instead of the same tired formula.

Color me excited! :D
As long as the color is some shade of brown or grey and is gritty and realistic ;)
Could somebody please explain to me why CoD is considered "realistic"? Maybe so when compared to Serious Sam, but last time I checked bullet wounds didn't heal up by going emo in a corner.

It was easily the most painful test I ever did, but it was worth it. For science.

You know what? I don't even give a fuck about the story. The stories of most modern FPSs are retarded. The only reason I will ever get this game is because all of my less hardcore gaming friends will get it and occasionally I like being sociable while I'm online. Also, nothing is funnier than jumping in a game against them and then killing them in the cheapest ways possible then hearing them ***** when they back out and pick me up.

I saw the videos on another site, it included Germany and England as well. At the end of each, there is a russian voice saying a number, followed by a sentence I can't quite make out. The numbers I have heard are 1(adeen), 2(dva), and 4(shateari). Anybody found 3?(It will be pronounced like "tree")
I know russian. Here is what he is saying:
America: One. Destroy enemy's hope of winning. (It is said horribly wrong in Russian, some words don't really exist)
England: Two. Use everything to your advantage. (Much better russian)
France: Three. Exploit your enemies weakness.
Germany: Four. Attack from unexpected side.

I believe this is from Sun Tzu's "Art of War"

i'm slightly intrigued. Its almost like they're trying to convince me that they're going for a single player experience this time. Nah. Not falling for it.

Can't wait for gameplay footage, so i can laugh at it.

'Wait, that hunk of crap is going against BF3? I wonder how many orders of magnitude BF3 will outsell it on PC?'

Oh so now Russia is going to be destroying America, France, Germay and the UK... one country, ONE COUNTRY is going to take on all these VERY POWERFUL NATIONS and give them a run for their money. THAT. IS. IMPOSSIBLE! And the only reason they are doing it is becuase they are evil dicks because, don't you know, all Russians are evil dicks... Why are these games so prejudice and anti-russian? It's really uncomfortable.

I'm sorry.. I just couldn't fail noticing the whole "wrong russian" thing.. Are you frikkin' telling me they couldn't bother to make sure that the bad guys know their own language in their own teaser???????

That's just... stunning. What did they do? Google translate it and hope for the best??

Oh Modern Warfare, why do insist on insulting my intelligence so?

Can't you leave people you're antagonizing some dignity? It's not rocket science you know, you could just hire voice actors from those 1C guys that do the CIS localizations of your games. Granted, those localizations are kind of bad, but the faults are mostly directorial.

I am so sorry that we didn't get to have an awesome hot epic war, that would spawn a gargantuan number of stories, books, films etc, going between us America, I really am. But can we please get over that already?

Also, a terrorist attack on a nation caused it to attack the offending country. PROJECT MUCH?!

My apologies to all Americans on this forum, I hold no grudge against you.

EDIT: I just realized, they are not merely pitting Russia against the US, they are also pitting it against ALL MAJOR EUROPEAN COUNTRIES! What the fuck? Ok, I know it's too early to judge, but still, what the fuck guys?!

Technically Russia did that to Chechnya in 1999, so you have us beat.

No country is innocent. At least we don't make games based on such a scenario... Seriously though, who wrote the script for that? Since when is my country considered EVIL? Oh wait, the Cold War... Again, I thought that was behind us. This is kinda like hating all Germans because some bloke happened to cause a war.
