The music was not right at all. I remember when the first trailer came out, and the song gave me chills. Why couldn't they have used that song again? It just felt so generic, and didn't inspire me to buy the game at all. I remember when I first saw the Left 4 Dead 2 and Mass Effect 2 trailers. Those were so good I literally preordered right after watching them. This couldn't even come close.

another brillant marketing example from the boys at EA. Mah Boi! The new Portal 2, EA advert free, trailers and commercials are what all companies should strive for!

Picked the Game up this morning.. Still installing.. Its like the devs are daring me to read every less than stellar review while i wait for this thing to finish .. WOW what a horrible installer program 0_0
well, shoulda gotten it on steam like I did. I started to install it at 9am when it unlocked and it finished in an hour. I actually liked the trailer and I have gotten into both the singleplayer and multiplayer and I am having a good time with it. Although I think I got worse at the multiplayer since the demo, but thats not the game's fault.

I swear that was the best trailer for a game I've ever seen. Even the rap was good, it wasn't some crap about sucking a lollipop. I really liked it.

Because Gandhi sat down too long and his legs went to sleep, obviously.

Well, either the trailer is made mostly of cutscenes, which is pretty bad when your main point of sale is how pretty your game looks, or the game is a CoD style cinematic experience, which would suck when so many games have already shown how well Manhattan adapts to a sandbox experience.

I'm buying it either way, though. I cannot resist the lure of post-apocalyptic NY.

They really should have gone the whole BioShock route and used the original New York, New York, would have given the game a much more dissonant feel - which is exactly what would benefit the lack of atmosphere in this trailer.

Except... erm... when does Portal 2 come out?
The week of April 18th. About a month from now.

Very cool video. Almost tempts me to buy it even though I hate FPSs. Shame about the music used.

Also, the piano bit reminds me of the Christmas song "Carole of the Bells". I think that would have been a better music choice despite being unrelated.

If you are a xbox player than you should be happy and celebrate because somebody finally developed a descent game for that shit. If you are a PC gamer and you played with Crysis than you can look at Crysis 2 as joke or a betrayal from Crytek. If you thought that the game developing industry is meant to be good, then you know that it's a joke and it's about money. If you still think that than you may feel betrayed.

EDIT:

Also Nanosuit 2 is actually the prototype if the first Nanosuit that they pulled out of the disposal of an abandoned Crynet lab. It's slow, it's weak, and the armor is a fucking joke!

oh why do we have to be in New-York? I want to play as the guy from crysis warhead defending some city in Europe. Just think if halflife 2 hadn't been set in some eastern european city, but was in New-York. Also I have never been to NY but due to the number of games set there i probably know my way round

PS: im British you muppet

Really, people want the Sinatra version over B.o.B.'s? Get a grip on your nostalgia people. Oh, sure, there is a bit of creepiness to playing the song, but it's far too cheery and has nothing to do with the scene. NY NY at least has some context with lyrics about oppression and fighting an invading force. It works for Bioshock because Bio wanted to harken back to that time period. There are no classical or retro themes in Crysis, and so the original song serves no purpose but to impress music buffs and do a job half as well as a more appropriate song. The snobbishness in this thread is palpable and repulsive (this also goes for those who are railing against "patriotic" games, not realizing that Crysis is in New York because it's interesting, not to tickle patriotic sensibilities.)

Still looking forward to getting Crysis 2 but that trailer was terrible, had awful pacing, dragged on and lacked focus. It's like they tried to cram every game play feature ignoring whether it would work or actively made sure it did not work... in fact this trailer makes me feel less inclined to buy and play Crysis 2 anytime soon.

I don't have a problem with the song itself, though it doesn't seem like it fits the game.

This was a pretty bad advertisement, I think. It didn't send chills down my spine or get me excited in the same way that Halo 3 and Skyrim's ads have, despite the fact that I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this game as soon as possible.

Actually, the last hope for humanity is the suit. Any bloke with military training could save humanity with that thing. But, either way, you're looking into it too deeply. People tend to make stories involving their home nation.
