ok, what the fuck? i told it i was 17, 1993, and it says i don't meet age verification standards!!! this is bullshit!!!! duke nukem is mature +17 people!!!! i've bought games like bulletstorm and halo: reach without needing parents consent, hell, when i bought bullet storm they didn't even ask for my age! they just say my facial hair on my 5'10' face and went "yep, he's over 17 all right". i should be able to read this page!!!!!

is this thing going on the PEGI scale and i can't see it because the escapist is a british site? again, bloody amazing job chaps from across the pond. can someone fix this for me so i can see it?

All right, you know the 2001 Unreal Engine? Basically, aside from how the code has written and stuff, the DNF engine is just that but in a Frankenstein form due to constant strip downs and rebuildings of the engine and how it works. And I happen to love how the graphics look. Style over pixel quantity is fine by me.

Well, this Duke Nukem game is certainly a Duke Nukem game. It was a legitimate point of concern.

The driving section looks awkward, but everything else looks great.

It honestly seems like they designed everything to be as over the top as they could get away with. I wouldn't be surprised if those driving sequences have you ramming your way through stuff and smashing over monsters and other cars with explosions going on all around.

It reminded me of Red Faction Guerrilla. Arguably the driving was the only real fun aspect of that game. If it has destructible buildings as you drive that will make it perfect for me.

The devs said they wanted to keep the graphics simple and "old-school".

Heck, I was seven years old when I started playing Duke Nukem 1-3D, so even if this sucks, I'm getting this for nostalgia's sake.

You're now aware that the core demograph were like three years old when this game began production
we've got enough gritty tear jerking war stories and "artsy" indie games with "serious philosophical and social undertones!"

A bit of mindless fun is just what the doctor ordered into this bland collection of cookie cutter shooters and independent developers that try to make up for their lack of production values by stuffing their games full of physics and social commentary.

Also, I'm no graphics whore or anything, but the game doesn't look very impressive visually. That thing better run at a frantic 60 FPS!

Not sure what my post has anything to do with your statement. Why did you even quote me....?

The english language doesn't have words to describe the awesome.
Hell, no string of characters in any language could describe how beautiful this game it going to be!

You know what would make this more awesome. If this was all an elaborate troll and gearbox just shipped copies of Halo 1 to us all instead. I wouldn't even be mad.

insofar as I'm concerned it'll be so awesome that it will definitely have been worth the wait. Don't think Im gonna preorder it though since LA Noire is set to be released at around the same time but I'll definitely be buying DNF immediately after I've got the former(Noire) and enough extra money

thanks to games like Mount & Blade that taught me not to give a damn for graphics, I can really be excited right now.

What I meant was that I don't find them to be the quality to look for in a game, because they aren't, but I'm opposed to the idea that graphics are as unimportant as some people make them out to be.

The artists work just as hard as the programmers and the writers, if not more, what's wrong with appreciating a bit of eye candy? Besides, you can't call any aspect of a game shallow. In a sense, they all contribute to the game;

The story can be part of the gameplay, and it can be part of the presentation. The presentation can depict the story and the gameplay, and the gameplay can depict the presentation and the story. Their roles are interchangeable, so I don't like putting any one of the three over the other. A good balance is the best thing to have.

I don't even know if anything I just said makes sense, but yeah.

Also, some people go for a certain look to make the game look aesthetically pleasing. I mean, indie developers have some cool art tricks and creative backgrounds, that's still considered great graphics. From what I see in this trailer, DNF goes for a hardcore "technical" efficiency with graphics, except they kind of fall short since there are some noticeable issues like overlapping textures and such.

I thought you were implying that the game is immature, and your comment made it seem like you were scorning it for it. I just read into it wrong that's all, wanted to make my point never the less.

Seems everyone is misquoting me :p
No harm, no foul.

I was just pointing out this game has been in development forever XD

If this is the actual ingame music, I sure hope I can put in some of my own.

The Duke needs more Metal than Brütal Legend!
So agreed.

I always associate Nukem with metal and rock. I mean C'mon! "Let's Rock!"?
Instead we get... That... :(
