As if I needed more of a reason to get it.

Pokemon elements in FF, how very strange, but I just hope that it's as badass as they say it's going to be in that regard.

I'm happy they brought back the fighting system, that was pretty fun to play around with when I wasn't battling a boss of course, I'm not that big of a masochist.

They did NOT just try to make QTEs a positive feature.

The fuck?
Compared to the battle system it (and FFXIII) uses, it is a positive feature.
That's how I rationalize it.

So, I am kinda looking forward to this. I wasn't able to finish XIII as I felt little drive to complete the final boss fight, but overall I still enjoyed it and loved the combat system. If they combine their character driven story with a better plot, which a more fleshed out world would allow for, I think XIII-2 could be pretty good. I still want Versus and Kingdom Hearts 3 more, but this will have to do for now I guess.

I am still getting this game even though I have yet to beat the first one(school's a ***** for a senior). I liked the trailer, but I felt that it could have been better if the announcer gave a bit more emotion, or if they had done it in japanese audio.

Either way, I'm gonna buy it, and then I'll buy Versus XIII. Who knows, maybe these two games will be precursors to what we might see(battle wise) in Kingdom Hearts 3. It looks fun and a bit more fast paced than XIII.

NO THANKS

sorry, I can handle cheesiness, but this is ridiculous.

atrocious art design, its looks like kingdom hearts got gangbanged by my little pony and pokemon. This is Final Fantasy??

lol @ "WE ACTUALLY HAVE TOWNS AND NPCS, AMAZING FEATURE!!!"

lol @ "QTE'S MAKE THE BATTLE MORE ENGAGING"

but at least its more customizable? even though they really dont tell us how? zzzz.

I dont know, I'd rather not be so incredibly negative, but I just cant help but feel all this stuff theyre adding is just unnecessary fluff that really wont bring much to compensate for an incredibly pointless and boring story that doesnt involve playing as the one only likeable character (lightning), and revolving completely around the most pointless characters (sarah, hope, random guy with shiny pants).

Like the time travel stuff and revisiting parts of the story for "what if" scenarios seems... pointless. Does it affect the overall story? I highly doubt it. Its like only an illusion of an "open RPG" because of their popularity right now.

TL;DR - all these features look like added crap that will most likely bring absolutely nothing to the OVERALL experience and are just there to make the game more marketable. I could be wrong, but I really doubt it. gotta just wait and see.

It's such a hipster thing to hate on FF13. I hated this game before you did. No, me. I love Final Fantasy and I hate this game. No, I hate Final Fantasy and I hate this game ever more because I don't even like the horse it rode in on.

I thought FF13 was okay. Not fantastic, but pretty okay. It's no more linear than FF10, no more anime melodramatic than FF7, and no more impenetrably written than FF5. It's a middle of the road edition of the series that does some things right and some things wrong. Definitely not the best game of 2010, but also not deserving of the sheer level of bile it gets.

Final Fantasy is a series that everybody seems to think is something it's not. It's always been weird, linear, and melodramatic. Some installments more in some areas and less in others, but those are pretty much series staples. Does nobody else remember that FF1 takes place in an unstable time loop that makes no sense? This crap was always a disaster.

Wow. Did they just take all the things I hated about 13 and attempt to make it sound good? Also, I have to search for Lightning? You want me to actively find one of the least likable characters ever? No thanks. I have no issue letting this be the very first main Final Fantasy game I don't buy. I won't buy another one until you convince me that you can pull your head out of your asses.

So, yeah, this is a game that I will pass up with a smile.

I liked FF13 for what it did and what it was, played it to death, did everything there was to do and then some, liked the characters, the world, pretty much everything ( even Vanille ).

And now they come with FF13-2, they throw away almost the entire cast from the previous game in favor for a stale-background character that is Serah and some time-travel boy called Noel, with whom you will be stuck for the entirety of the game. Sorry Square, but I want Sazh, Snow and Hope back, a static, 2 player team isn't really appealing to me, sorry. I couldn't care less for the random animal-catch gimmick either.

I just want to further explore the world of Cocoon and Pulse with the characters that I have grown to love and like while playing FF13, I don't care for Serah or Noel.
Don't underestimate how much SquareEnix can change a boring character to a good main character. Yuna was originally a cardboard cutout who only had strong convictions going for her. In the sequel, she became a front-seat driver with a sense of fun.

To the game as a whole, it seems they're trying to remove the annoying linearity from the first and give some autonomy. QTEs (not "cinimatic action sequences... with quick reflex button prompts) are forgivable if then can have some context, and if they're not of the instant death/reset progress variety.

Hey - think of it this way - now you can do more than just pressing X to win.
You can also press X to not die!

I DON'T LIKE CHANGE OR STORY PROGRESSION! I WANT TO PLAY THE SAME CHARACTERS IN THE SAME SETTING FOREVER!!! That's you. That's what you sound like.
Lets see, if they are creating a direct sequel on a game is it too much to ask for the original cast to be playable? Some of the most liked sequels in the game industry featured characters from the cast of the previous games. Having characters playable that gamers have already pored a lot of time and investment in and have grown to like and love is a plus for sequels, it is part of what makes the Mass Effect series so lovable, its part of what made the original Suikoden I - II combination so lovable.

I am not against story progression, not at all, however, the story in this new game sounds a bit lackluster. Lightning suddenly disappearing because she is drawn into some time loop paradox god knows what they want to call it. I'm sorry but, this just screams "we pulled something out of our ass!". The least they could have done was wait a year or so before they pulled that shit instead of having it happen 3 seconds after the ending sequence of FF13. And although I don't know how the story will unfold entirely, I find it hard to swallow that Snow will let Serah go alone.
He fought his way through a lot of shit in order to get Serah back, he finally gets her back and then just lets her go?

By the looks of it this moment, the story looks like a badly written, plothole-ridden piece of shit, but the game might prove me wrong once it is released, there might actually be good reason for all of the shit going on in the trailers, lets just hope so.

Holy hell! Someone who wants Hope back?! Well he looks pretty grown up so I suppose he'll be tolerable this time around.
