Wow. Ummmm...

This basically looks like an FPS version of World in Conflict.

Only in the future... slightly.

I seem to be drawing far too many parallels here.

*sigh*
You're not the only one. I can't read one article about this game without thinking about WiC. That's not really a bad thing though, WiC was awesome. Let's hope for this one.
The tagline is not that different: "Home is where the war is" against "War is coming home". And you fight North Koreans instead of Soviets. The Red dawn connections till exists, though.
Well the Red Dawn connection may be due to the fact that John Milius (the writer of Red Dawn) wrote the plot for Homefront.

My personal views make me really want this to be good, but I'm still pretty skeptical of the bland looking gameplay. Vehicle play seems a lot better that in BFBC2 though.

Original Ideas Present:

Well, Black Ops' RC-XD is now an RC copter.

And that's about it.

Oh look. Another COD clone...

Clearly this is a game that will be marketed to the fans of COD and not those fans of battlefield games so ultimately this will be pointless and a loss.

Oh dear... they even have that silly little car thing but they have made it so it can fly...

Yeah... just great. Good job on creating a variety vacuum >.>

I like how their future drones do look like modern drone prototypes, i.e. goofy as hell.

They're surely trying to push the idea that multiplayer will be frantic. I wonder. Taking Battlefield's lead is excellent, (as opposed to, ugh, those other guys) but even if you can copy concept you can't copy quality level design.

Whatever happened to Frontlines anyways? I heard some good things about it before and after its released, but why did it die off that quickly?
It was bugged to hell. I still loved it, but this was around the time of the vista boom, and it would do things like crash vista. It also failed to see major success.

Woo, BC2 + annoying robot death machines and CoD knives! Great :/ Fills me with confidence! (Waits for BF3...)

That game was crap. Seriously, poor in every regard. Sub-standard through and through, fundamentally broken. Not that I took it online, just the single player was enough to scare me off.

Everything was wrong about it - they managed to make a level where you fly a UAV helicopter armed with machine guns and missiles boring and simply frustrating. They made the SMG not only more powerful but also more accurate at long range than the standard assault rifle. they used features such as the aforementioned remote control drones as single use gimmicks to complete a single task in a mission, rather than as a tool for you to use or to open up tactical options. Also, the whole trailer thing, with squads pushing the front line forward with tight tactics and high-tech support? Never happens - an invisible army back beyond the last checkpoint endlessly respawns your squad, who steadfastly refuse to advance until you cross invisible progression markers that gives them the ok to run into the next line of enemy guns.

It makes CoD's endlessly respawning grunts pouring out of a closet seem game design brilliance by comparison, and by the end of it you'll be yearning for a gun that actually performs like it should.

TL;DR? Don't touch Frontlines: Fuel of War with a barge pole. Though feel free to recommend it to your enemies. Christ, I don't know why I even completed that game...

I get the feeling that this will be one of those games that if you start doing well off the start you can just steamroll the enemies once you've got enough points to spawn in 3 or 4 attack helicopters. Even if the choppers cost a lot of points, since you still earn points in them, vehicle whoring will be just silly. Oh you got shot down? Just spawn in a new one. I seriously hope there's a respawn cooldown time for vehicles, even then by the end of the game most people will be in tanks and helis just turning the game into a giant clusterf-ck if there's no total limit to vehicles that can in play at any one time.

So they took the most annoying vehicle in Bad Company 2 (the UAV with a machine gun) and made it easier to get? And there's a car version? Take 2 annoying things (UAV/RCXD) and put them together and what do you get? Pure frustration.

Looks decent enough, but I don't see anything I can't get in Bad Company 2, which I already own. So why exactly would I want this over Bad Company 2?

Oh and the melee looks as easy as CoD's melee. Which is a bad thing.
I think its a Two-hit melee, which would be a good thing. However, your right, it DOES look like a sequel to Battlefield, and it even looks like a closer match to the orginal game than Bad company does. Even though I'm an SP man, I think I would buy this game on the merits of being a BF1942 type gameplay successor.
From what I've seen, it's scale is nowhere near both Bad Company and the original Battlefield. I'd wait for Battlefield 3 then; proper 64 man battles, planes, tanks, the works.

It'd be good if it's a two-hit melee though.

I'd wait for this product to come. I still have doubts over it. I think the story sounds more interesting borrowing narrative styles like the Half Life series but I dunno I'm not entirely glued to it.

And as far as I can remember, one of the writers of Red Dawn also was involved in World in Conflict. That is what I meant with Red Dawn connection.

You remind me of this guy:
How ever you put it this game copies a whole lot from CoD so let`s just stop with the nonsense that it isn`t a CoD clone. I`m not going to take the argument any further but if you would make a list of features for both you would observe that above 70% of the features are most likely identical and that is what we like to call a clone.

Disclaimer : Of course the game may present itself in a different manner than what the trailer shows. But based only on the trailer that`s a CoD clone.

I honestly don't see how this is a COD clone since this game has been in development since early 2008, which was before MW2 was even annouced.

I hate COD. I don't own an XBox... I don't even own a PS3. I own a computer (like it should be)

Now, the game play is similar to COD in the sense its a load of sporadic nonsense with no structure and you are randomly running in circles to defeat enemies. You have the sporadic fighting nonsense and then you have those where there are attackers, defenders, fixed spawns and no way to circum navigate the map to revert it back to sporadic nonsense.

Also bullets don't kill fast enough, and you have that bloody gimmicky flying thing.

The only thing I see different from the standard COD clone are apache heli's and tanks... and the constant rocketing of them xD

I really hope theres a good well thought out single player to this one, otherwise we can just call it "Modern Company 3, the RCXD's can fly now".

Sorry music, but I didn't get nearly as excited about this trailer as you clearly seemed to be. It's just desert combat meets COD meets Bad Company. Not a single thing in there makes it stand out.

If Frontlines: Fuel of War is anything to go by, the short answer will be no. The long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Looks like Call of Duty with Bad Company 2 thrown in.
The only reason I'd find to buy a shooter like this is the Single-Player campaign. If the story's not good, I'm not going to waste my money on it.
Of course, there are exceptions like Team Fortress 2, but TF2 wasn't a CoD clone.
