Looks good. A bit annoyed at some things, but I'm putting that in spoilers at the bottom of my post because I don't want to give the impression this trailer was bad, I actually rather liked it.

What bothers me, though, is scale. Either that Thresher is an order of magnitude larger than any other we've seen (and we've seen a lot), or that Reaper is tiny. Granted, nothing we've seen has even really implied that all Reapers are the size of Sovereign (and I've heard theories even a while ago that Sovereign was to other Reapers what Dreadnoughts are to the other fleets), but this still seems like it shouldn't happen. In ME1, you take out Threshers in a tank. In ME2, you take one out on foot. In ME3, a Thresher is a match for a Reaper?
There's some speculation that the Thresher Maw shown in the trailer is actually the one described by one of the Cerberus News posts, in which they describe a legend of a huge one located somewhere in Tuchanka.

As for the size of the reaper, it was never really said that they were all the size of, say, Sovereign, so there might not be a standard mold for the Reapers.
King Thresher Maw!!! Sounds awesome to me.

That Krogan at the beginning. Was that Okeer? Shouldn't he be dead?
That's probably the leader of the Krogans (Wrex or his bro if you killed Wrex)

I mentioned this before on the article that talked about this trailer, but what if that is supposed to be the thresher maw from ME2. Like if you killed that one in ME2, Tuchanka is doomed. I doubt it since Wrex killed one too during his right of passage, but still.

That would be very sneaky BioWare. It would be a scenario where your decision in a fight determines ME3 instead of all the cutscenes. Because you killed the Thresher Maw in ME2 instead of surviving the five minutes, the Thresher Maw can't help you in ME3. That would be insidious.
Ninja'd.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Game Informer outed the Maw as the one from the CDN report [http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Cerberus_Daily_News_-_November_2010#11.2F12.2F2010_-_Photo_Revives_Debate_Over_Tuchanka.27s_.22Colossal_Thresher_Maw.22]. And I doubt that BioWare would troll people like that by making it if you killed the Maw in 2, you'd be screwed.

And yeah, I'm pretty certain that the krogan shown is Wreav [http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Wreav].

Shepherd is now the swearing sphess marine. I love swearing. I swear on average 30-40 times daily. But i did not picture Shep as the person to swear as he worked.
That might have been Vega who swore. Shepard didn't cuss for the last two games, I don't see why it would start now.
Yeah, it was Vega.

OT: Damnit, Escapist ate my post before. Damn you changes!

Did you guys notice that all of the latest Mass Effect 3 footage is from PC version? You can tell because of the hotkeys in the upper left corner. Developers usually use Xbox 360 to show off their games. There are several possible reason for showing us PC version. I narrowed it down to 2 most likely possibilities: PC version will be Origin exclusive and they want to hype us PC gamers to give in to the dark side (not gonna happen in my case); PC version looks significantly better than console versions (graphically) so it's normal to advertize the best looking version. Knowing EA it's probably both.

I've played the 360 version, and it looks about the same.

Man. The more I learn about this game, the less I like it.

Seriously, I am really hoping we do not "solve" the Reaper problem by just shooting them. There needs to be something else, a sense of something conceptual, a sense of something grander. The first game got that. We didn't beat the Reapers by blowing them up. We beat them by foiling their plans, by stopping the chance to use the Citadel as their gateway back.

The second did not understand this difference. And it really looks like the third one does not either.

It's both.

The Thresher Maw is a giant - the "Loch Ness" of Tuchanka. The Reaper is a Destroyer Class Reaper, 160m in length (Sovereign, for comparison, was 2km in length).

As for whether it's a match, no. The TM loses the fight without even damaging the Reaper.

Minor spoiler:
In ME3 you don't defeat the reapers just by shooting them. They are as tough as ever.

Major spoiler:
The Protheans left plans for a reaper-killing dark energy device. Most of ME3 is spent trying to get it built.

Monster battle royales? Seriously? Like we didn't see enough ME3 trailers that treat pedestrian shooting, knifing people and rolling around as "all new game mechanics". Why don't they just put a monochrome Shepard with an orange blotch on his side and walking towards the camera on the cover?

I'm a bit puzzled as to whom they are trying to sell this game to. I mean, it feels like this was conceived by EA to attract all of its audience. By all means, give the game a broad appeal, but these endless wreckin-stuff-up-Shepard-style trailers are getting pretty patronizing. Does the marketing even realize why most people play ME?

EDIT:

You see, this is the kind of juicy stuff that gets the fans salivating and expecting, and should feature more prominently in the marketing. Obvious connections to the Haestrom mission. *slurp*

Thresher Maw vs Reaper? While they Geth assist you? This is getting better by the minute.

We're still a long way from launch. At this stage the marketing is designed to pique interest, nothing more. Also the fans complained a lot about the number of spoilers in the ME2 trailers, so maybe (don't know for sure yet) Bioware will be showing less of the story in trailers this time around.

I watched the video and my final reaction after "that was cool," was "Did they just spoil the story of an entire mission?"

Anyone else not noticed how these trained soldiers wield their weapons like little girls? Seriously they are running around with that machine gun with just one hand. I don't care how light the parts are, the weapons is big enough that they are unwieldly when used one handed even for Krogans. While I enjoyed Mass Effect (especially the first one) I'm of the persuasion that this game should flop to teach Bioware a lesson. They need to take lessons from Skyrim's sucess not COD

In the codex, it says that the Thresher never entirely leaves the ground, just the head does in order to eat. And let's face it, from everything else the codex said about them, they just don't give a fuck. At all
