Those bookends will be mine... Oh yes...

I'm not waiting for this with bated breath, but it looks much better than I thought it would. Call me pleasantly surprised.

So he pledged his soul to the emperor? His soul's gone now, but he still gets his ass kicked by my Reptile rolls. Poor ol' Shang Tsung, talk about a waste.

This might mix things up in-game. But in a bad way, i might add.
Being able to change to the guy you're fighting? Well, it could work, but it all depends on the details. Will you have new attacks and combos? Do you need to know how to play all the other characters before paying this old geezer?

Anyways, I'm hoping it'll be cool, but not OP.
If it's like MKII/U-MK3, then yes, you would have to know the combos of all the other characters when you transform in to them. The transformation only works for a limited time, but you can also use the other characters' Fatalities, Babalities, etc.

He was a great character to play if you were familiar with the other characters, but he was by no means overpowered, as you also had to memorize double or triple the button combos for transforming into the other characters, on top of his regular moves.
Wow, sounds quite difficult to master, but cool.

I'm going to take it that you haven't played one of the first three Mortal Kombat games, considering when you were born.
Yep, I (sadly) haven't gotten the chance to play any Mortal Kombat games properly. Once i did play one, but that was ages ago (don't even remember where i played it), and i was really young. I remember even not being able to pull off a single fatality... boy, did i suck back then. Though, as i said before, i was really young, and only played a few rounds.

Someone is obviously new to Mortal Kombat.
Yes, as i stated in the middle of this post. No real idea what's going on in the games or who the characters are (well, except Zub Zero. Everyone knows that guy).

the graphics look so shitty. They are reminiscent of wow.
Yup you're right, they must have used Blizzard's Engine.

It really looks like WoW alright......

And then you had to find the time to transform! Any opponent worth his weight in salt knew that once you started hitting directional buttons, they had to get on you to stop you from pulling off the combination to switch.
At least you could just fire off the triple fireskulls and then transform in to whomever you want. I'd usually just revert to mashing buttons until I transformed and then went from there. But that was against a cousin of mine who did nothing but play MKII one summer with me.

Wow, those are awesome bookends...I...kind of want them. And watching that twit rip his own head off? Nice touch. I'm not normally a fighting game guy, but..well, it is MK, and it's been years since long key button combos would be appropriately viciously worded by that singular sound of "Fatality!" Hell, imagine if they bring back the unconventional fatalities additions?

Wasn't him selling out to Shao Kahn for magical abilities and arranging the tournaments explained in MKII? I realize there's quite a few people here who never played the first two or three games, but I'd imagine there's quite a few people who were too young to have played the original games, and never played the later games because they never played the first few. Shang Tsung was an interesting character, but damned if I could ever turn into anyone except Scorpion, and Sub-Zero. But hey, he could shoot three flaming skulls out of the ground.
