That looks a lot like Fallout, gameplay looks decent enough thought.

Still not sure what to make of it though. Hopefully it's more than 4 or 5 hours long. Hopefully it's got a decent and varied single player story. Hopefully the vehicle sections don't suck.
What?

Did any of you actually LOOK AT THAT TRAILER?

That's the most awesome shit I've seen in a while right there.

Rage, Skyrim, DeusEx3... how will I ever keep up!?
I feel your pain. Wait this isn't pain! Anywho I know how ya' feel. Dues Ex is this month though and RAGE isn't until October so we have a while yeah? I'm giving Skyrim the miss since I still haven't finished Oblivion, so for me it's easier.

OT: I've said it all along, it looks great, can't wait to play it, I think it will be another sleeper hit. I don't think it will get good reviews though. Way too much fodder for entitiled and jaded reviewers to poke fun at instead of talking about what's actually in the damn game! Too much low hanging fruit for their terrible jokes. Mark my words we'll never hear the end of: "Wow. The Authority and the Resistance? Really?" not to mention the never ending comparisons to Fallout, Borerlands, etc. as if we couldn't manage to leap that logic chasm on our own. Oh well like much else that is panned, I'll still buy it, and I'll still love it.

What a bunch of complainers some people are. How brown exactly should a post-apocalyptic game be? If you think all shooters are the same, lock yourself away now and save your money! Or maybe, don't buy them all? I, for one, think Rage looks flippin great, and they can have my money as soon as it's out.

There was a time when "An id Software production" instantly signalled quality. It saddens me that new kids don't have respect for the legendary development studio.
Maybe that's cause the last two ID games were shit sandwhiches. Or maybe that's cause this game looks bland on bland toast with a side of bland tea.

Jeeze, people, any ecology that can support human life shows more color than this. Yeah, an asteroid impact will hurt the ecosystem, but if there is a human civilization, there should be SOME kind of forest or grass or something.

Do you know what I'd like to see?

A post-apoc game where guns are RARE. Where most of the combat is done with swords, bows, and crude flintlocks, and when someone hauls out a revolver with pre-war ammo, it's SERIOUS BUSINESS. But that'd require some creativity in gameplay design!

Can't have THAT happening.

Are you joking or just trying to 'look' edgy in that pretentious way that many on the escapist attempt?
Oh yeah, totally pretentious, because obviously from that trailer the game looks so unique and distinctive that any comment on a common gripe with a dubious business practice used to bolster sales of an otherwise unremarkable game through a slew of high review scores is completely unjust and edgy. And, of course, such behaviour is limited to this one forum, where all the pretentious people hang out and 'fnar fnar' to one another over tall glasses of champaign and diamond dishes of caviare in a hive-mind of hatin' on 'cool' and 'popular' things whilst reeling of Yahtzee-isms and using Extra Credits and Movie Bob quotes as fact.

Looks like you got me.

See, now that would be the makings for an interesting and distinctive post-apocalyptic game. You could have the blasted remains of a city completely covered in the single species of plant that could handle the radiation levels, micro-ecologies thriving in gorges that avoided the worst of the fallout, plains covered in the mounds of insects that have thrived un-checked as their larger predators died in the apocalypse - the possibilities are endless and a barren desert shouldn't be the same damn thing they serve up.

That aside, I think I recall a gameplay trailer that looked at least like a nice, polished game, and I think remember being impressed by the enemies responding to damage. Either that, or being disappointed by how arbitrarily they reacted... or something. There were some fun n gimmicky weapons, but I've played Painkiller to death, so they're going to have to try pretty damn hard to make any sort of gimmick like that stand out :/

I mean, I'm sure that if this game is well done, it'll be awesome. After-all, throwing krull style boomarangs into crazed mutants is always entertaining .

But I would like it to show slightly more creativity in the visuals department, if that's what's going to be sold to me so much. I'd rather have less spiffy graphics (technically) and have more entertaining art design.

Or at least some color beyond brown.

I got the idea for the "post-apoc with swords" from reading the Valley-Westside War, which is about a war between two parts of California, 100 years after a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and USA reduced the world to ash.

The armies of the two sides were made up of swordsmen, archers, musketeers...and then one side hauled out an old M60 and tore the other side to bits.

Guns, explosions, hacking off limbs and off road vehicles .... all it's missing is a lifetime supply of ale and it would be perfect.

ut I'd expect them to be able to shift it well enough if they buy some decent reviews.

Mate, you're joking, right? That one sentence right there makes you the biggest pretentious wanker here. Which also makes you a hypocrite.

If you're going to set yourself up as a "I'm an individual, who's making cynical stabs at the dirty proletariat from my high horse", then you'll need a different angle. Don't insult- observe.

Can't say I'm impressed, maybe the actual story(if there even is one) will set it apart from all the other very similar shooters, but what I've seen sofar doesn't make me want it.

I think I would like this game. I suspect that I will really suck at it, but I want it anyway!

Strange fusion of post-apoctalyptia with high-tech. I'm in!

Last two id games were shit sandwich? The last game id developed was Doom 3 back in 2004 (yeah okay that one may count as shit), but Quake 3 wasn't so bad. Quake IV, Wolfenstein etc. weren't developed by id software.

I watch a lot of ZP and MB myself, but complete cynicism hasn't overridden me; then again, maybe I'm just being naive.

Did you read what I was responding to, or did you just feel the need to interject because it offends your sensibilities on free speech? When someone tries to pass off a subjective observation as an objective fact, using said pseudo-fact to reinforce a statement, then it can quite often be percieved as absurd and pretentious. Fortunately, Wicky_42 has a brain and didn't take it as an ad hominem and saw that I was merely questioning his judgement.

I would suggest that you stay out of exchanges which don't directly involve you.

I loved every second of Doom 3. I can understand some of the complaints, but they ultimately came down to design choices. At the end of the day, Doom 3 delivered exactly what it said it would. In that way, id have never let me down.

Guys! I've come up with a revolutionary game story. The anarchists fighting the only possibility of order, stability and progress in a post-apocalyptic world......are the bad guys. I know, mind-blowing right?

Looks extremely unimpressive. Why is everyone so hyped up about this, disregarding the fact that it has 2 major names behind it? Do you know some secret or something that i don`t?

No, it's just the "big name behind it".
Bland story with really stupid names and everything else has been seen in more than a dozen other games. I'm talking about you weapons.

Well, guess I'll be watching for more news on this game, won't buy it till I see reviews though, I haven't had such great luck with pre-orders lately.
That's because you rely on reviews. Rely on your own head.

But what is really good , reviewers cannot bias or lie about

Just an example:

Metroid Prime: IGN: 9.7 --> Genuine
COD4: Modern Warfare: IGN 9.4 --> Genuine
COD: Modern Warfare 2: IGN: 9.5 --> Huge Bias

MW2 should be 5.5 imo

I rely on my own current and past experience:

Rage is the game worth your every penny. Im buying for PC - finish the singleplayer and then straight to modding tools.

I've seen and heard enough, i don't need reviews anymore, i don't even want to see any more trailers, since these are just huge spoilers from now on.

This is the intervew that is ALL you need to know about RAGE: http://www.gamespot.com/events/quakecon2011/video.html?sid=6327363 ignore the "(X360)" note - gamespot is stupid, the review has nothing to do with consoles - just questions might be mixed - PC and console.
