To be honest, if Resident Evil 4 was the best in the series (it's the only one I've played), than I'd hate to see the worst in the series.
Oh, and the graphics look exactly the same.

I'd say Resident Evil: The Director's Cut. Because they actually cut content from the game when it was released. It was actually inferior to the original release of RE in that respect. A close second IMO is RE 3 if only for the ridiculous set-up Jill wears the entire game.

OT: I didn't see a real difference. Having played all versions of RE4, and loving every damn minute of it still to this day I might get this for 360. God, I remember when it first came out on the Gamecube. It was two discs and glorious. Hell, I still own the PS2 version of it despite that one being inferior to the GC release.

Yeah I agree, why not do a reboot of some of the older ones instead? And improve on other things as well besides graphics, like the inventory system for example. I really loved the first 3 in the series, they were the ones to effectively scare the pants off me the most.
