Wow, that could only have been more generic if they'd put Yoda in it. They even got one of these tentacle chicks to get molested by a dude.

PS: Is it just me or are these light saber fights getting really boring? It just seems like once you have seen one of them, you have seen them all.

There is the part where they jump a lot, then there is the lightning or pushing, then someone gets cut open in the middle.

Jedi have really gotten to the point where they ruin the "feel" of Star Wars. This trailer had me smiling in a few spots, but hardly ever when the Jedi were on screen. It can't even be thrown off as stupid lightsaber fights. The "I sense something" bullshit. Needlessly throwing your life away. A Sith killing his master just because. It doesn't feel like Star Wars and, even if it did, it's been overdone and I'm tired of it.

A freaking cowboy felt more Star Warsy than Jedi in this video (for me, at least). That's terribly sad.
He killed him because he got stabby stab stabbed. That's not exactly un-Sith like.

Why the hell didn't they show this during EA's conference?

EA just showed a mash up of this trailer, and the two previous ones. It was disappointing as hell. This was awesome.

Why didn't they show this one?!
Hehe, they probably thought you.. dammit! I had something for this....

(The game is being demoed and stuff today, right?)

I'm always up for a pretty trailer(absolutely love them), even if it's filled with cliches. And holy shit, this trailer is packing. They weren't even satisfied with killing one master, they had to kill two.

"Guess who has the fastest ship in the sector". Gee, I wonder who.

Is the smuggler the same voice actor as the guy who does the voice for Marcus Fenix?

I don't get this argument. You don't click, you simply control a character via hotkeys. And frankly compared to all the bullshit broken combat systems we have seen in so called action games, hotkey controls are just fine. Besides, how come everyone sucks Blizzard's Johnson over the clickfest that is the Diablo franchise but whenever they see an MMO, those same people yell "omg, click until they die, boringz"
That's not what people mean by that, they just don't express it well. The problem with what I've seen of SWTOR's combat is that it plays exactly like MMO's released a decade ago.

The "traditional" combat system used in EQ, DAoC, WoW, WAR, etc is getting boring. The genre is stagnant and all BioWare can come up with is better animations? It's incredibly disappointing that they resigned themselves to making WoW in space with a better single player story.

When your second biggest selling point are your combat animations(which you won't see very often unless you are a lightsaber class) then it's pretty clear the game is bringing almost nothing new to the table.

This is what one of SWTOR's lead developers had to say about MMO design:
?It is a touchstone,? Zeschuk said of WoW, according to GamesIndustry. ?It has established standards, it?s established how you play an MMO. Every MMO that comes out, I play and look at it. And if they break any of the WoW rules, in my book that?s pretty dumb. If you have established standards, WoW established them.?

The "sense" is pretty default Star Wars foreshadowing, unfortunately. The self sacrifice was probably so the sith didn't force lightning the ship's engines while it took off, but that's not very well explained in the context of the trailer. Same with the Sith, it's kinda what Sith do, but lacks any real context unless you're familiar with what's going on.

The trailer seems more focused on pulling in existing Star Wars fans than it does an audience who may not be as familiar with the franchise. Either that, or they're assuming the latter audience won't care.

That trailer is the first really good job I've seen Bioware do showcasing the Smuggler, and balanced it well with the other 3 Republic classes. Now they just need to give some more loving to the Imperial Agent and to a lesser extent the Bounty Hunter.
Just to beef up your argument "I sense a disturbance in the force" "The force is strong with this one" "Vader's on that ship" "Skywalker's on the shuttle" and for the self-sacrificing thing Obi Wan did it to let Luke, Han and the rest get away

I still want a star wars reboot.

Jedi are far too predictably tragic, the Sith too predictably evil-stupid, the plot just seems a contrived repeat of before, the characters incredibly thin rehashes of cliches, the technology irrational and inconsistent - it's all just dated and a bit silly, really. Lightsaber battles lack substance or physicality, weapon impacts feel inconsistent etc etc. The only good thing about the trailer was the pretty visuals - the execution was well done. Everything else I take issue with, lol.

Have I just out-grown a children's product, or am I just demanding higher standards from one of the longest running and most successful Sci-fi IPs that just doesn't seem to get things right?

I don't think I have ever wanted a game to succeed more than this game, now if you'll excuse me, I am off to play both KotoR games again

Ah but it's star wars lore that a Sith apprentice (A good one anyway) will betray their master and take their place if they feel the master is weaker than them. And what's wrong with the sensing thing?

To all you guys praising Bioware, they didn't make this trailer. Blur Studio did. They make all the trailers for Bioware, not Bioware directly.
Well then lets write to them and get a collaboration, they do the animation Bioware do the writing and make the most awesome star wars movie ever!
Seriously loved every moment of this trailer and genuinely am considering playing the old republic, I'm not a fan of playing MMO's that cost but this and everything else I've seen looks awesome.

One thing that always bugs me is hearing people talk about highly popular game mechanics as if they're new, in this case hearing the guy talk about painfully WoW-like boss and group mechanics. I know not everyone is aware of exactly how such MMOs work so they probably feel a need to explain, but it's just irksome.
youll never be happy will you :D

wanna bet there would be people complaining if they didnt do that?

i guess they wanna attract new people to the MMO genre aswell, star wars fans, kids that like the clone wars series. Also what i read from Activision Blizzard that was what they were happy about, more people in the MMO market (seems like a pat on the back for Bioware-Lucas-EA, but ofc just means "when your MMO fails they might come to us")

wan to see you try and explain that to a boardroom of investors

they cant take huge risks with that kind of money backing it, they need something that already works and tweak it, 10 million+ people still play wow, so it might be stale but it works

Each game had about three minutes on stage, that trailer alone is six minutes. You don't just give away everything good at the first show during E3, you leave people with an idea of what you've got so they come back.

This is the first time I've seriously wanted this game to be a serious, story-centric Single Player game instead of a pointless MMO grindfest.

Looks pretty darn sweet but it doesn't matter at all since it isn't actual gameplay

Btw, what are the horned folk called? (relatives of Darth Maul I believe)
