Before i start, let me just say that i mean absolutely no offense in anything that follows:

It was never said that I don't play fighting games.

Spoiler: I have played a couple fighting games, some of which I am actually at the very least proficient in

MvC 1 2, SF2, MK1 2 3, Soul Calibur 1 2 3 4, Bushido Blade, Marvel vs Street Fighter, DoA 1 2 3, Primal Rage

which should at least entitle me to having an experienced opinion, if not an educated one.

No offense, but you probably were not proficient in any of those, specially in MVC. Anyone who has even a mediocre understanding of how mechanics (both in general, and character-specific) work in fighting games in general can tell the differences between the 2 MVCs (aside from the roster and so on). If you don't have this understanding, then you are not proficient. I really hope you are not basing your proficiency on a fighting game on how much you win online, because netplay is about the worst place you can go to measure your skill in.

Although I guess all this is moot considering

For the record, i don't even like MVC

So why exactly is my opinion on a series I DO like of any interest or concern to you?

Whether u like MVC could not possibly interest me less. I'm just pointing out that your complaint on the trailer is just.... dumb, very.
