I don't even really know how to describe it as an actual trait but...
I can't tell you how much I suffered due to teachers being ignorant or plain insensitive to their students problems and needs.
For example, when I was in grade school, some kids were being dicks, bugging me, trashing my stuff. I kept telling the teacher (this was a substitute), eventually even yelling it to her that they were being mean.
Her response: Wow, you sure like attention don't you?
Followed by completely ignoring me the rest of the day, despite these kids still being jerks to me.
So yeah, I F34KING HATE HER FOREVER. D:
AS a kid, I tended to get made fun of a lot. I made a list of people who were mean to me because.. well kids do that stuff, trying to make themselves feel better. Some of the other kids saw I was doing this. They apparently told my teacher, and she made me give the list to her.
Her response: This is really immature, stop it.
1. I'm a kid. NO SHIT.
2. So you have no problem with kids being mean to other kids, but will call a kid out on something they were doing to make themselves feel better. F34K YOU.
Or one time, early in high school, I hadn't done my homework in one class, so she gives me an ultimatum that I need to hand in the next homework assignment on time. Of course, the assignment due that day was also not finished... and yet she punished me for it.
Yeah, she gave me an ultimatum, then punished me for breaking the ultimatum for doing something before it was ever made. FUCK THEM.
.... I really hated a lot of my teachers D:<
Don't anyone ever be like them, ok?
Though to be fair, I had some great teachers too.
I always had a knack for writing, and several instances in Grade School had teachers doing things to nurture that part of me, and now I aspire to become a writer. that was really the only amount of nurturing I ever received in regards to that, and I'm grateful for that. *single tear of happiness*
I guess what I'm saying is:
A good teacher notices what a student needs, and they nurture and help them.
A bad teacher ignores you or fails to understand a students problems and needs.
