i think its an alright game but the thing that idont get is why they still have a need to turn into...human looking cars on their own planet...

shouldnt they have their own ways of trasportation?

it seems to me that our cars were the best inventions for them

I just found the omnibus on B&N.com for a pretty low price.
Thank god that IDW is doing it, they usually have the best transformers comics (from what I can tell)
Little annoyed though...on the website, the characters they have announced contain sideswipe but not sunstreaker.
And why does ratchet have an AXE?

Not sure about the melee weapons either. I was even more baffled when I noticed Starscream carrying an Energon mace... I would have figured him as more of a short sword type.
As for those two characters you mentioned... meh. Not really invested in either of them. However, seeing how High Moon Studios apparently did their homework concerning G1, they might release Sunstreaker as DLC down the line. It's a big might, but who knows...

Funny you should mention that about IDW... those guys were there to pick up the pieces when Dreamwave went bankrupt. Their stories aren't bad, at least not the ones I've read, but their art style has something about it that doesn't sit right with me.

I wasn't a big fan of the Infiltration-Revelation saga art style, but I LOVED the All Hail Megatron style. The sad part was volume two of the AHM, some comics seemed to be done by a guest artist, and totally threw off any immersion. From going to just enough detail on the robots to too little and Bayonneta camera angles made me want to skip over those parts.
I think the ones that look painted in the Coda are cool. The paint style made the dark stories seem even more dark, especially the bumblebee coda. If you like the Transformers, you need to read that last coda comic. It adds a whole new twist on the human/autobots relationship. It might be confusing out of context though...

Yeah, I thought that Starscream always had a sword that was one of his wings or something to that effect. I remember the armada toys had him break off his wing for a sword.
With sideswipe and sunstreaker, they were brothers, and the rivalry between them might be fun to play off of. Maybe Sun is just a plot character and not playable.
In DLC though, I want them to add Drift. The only problem with that is that he wouldn't be Drift yet, and would still be Deathlock (I think, whoever he was before he left the Decepticons). Drift is awesome, he had the two short swords and a longsword, was pretty fast, and would be a fun stealth character.
Speaking of fast characters, who wants to see Blurr? Or how about Kup (he's that awesome, he doesn't need to be fast)?

I'll look into those comics, but I think that'll have to wait until next month considering my budget for June.

Yeah, Starscream had his wing sword in Armada... never had that toy, but I do have the Skywarp one and it has the same feature.

Aaahh, now I remember. Those two brothers were constantly bickering, both of them obsessed over who could dispose of their enemies quickest and in the most stylish way. I also seem to recall Sunstreaker being vain beyond belief and getting severely pissed if anyone so much as scratched his paintjob. ... Yeah, I guess including both of these characters could have made for some funny dialogue. ^^

I don't really need Kup, since I never found him all that great, but I'd definitely like to see Blurr. As of now he's not announced to be in the game, but again, in the age of near-mandatory DLC anything can happen.
Oh, and I don't know Drift, but from what I can gather from a short inforun on Google he's basically a grumpier version of Prowl who apparently studied with a Bushido master.

Drift is not like Prowl. He joined the third faction, which was against the war after leaving the decepticons. There, he studied and learned, and was reintroduced when he tried to infiltrate a decepticon cruiser the same time as Kup's squad did. He became a member of Kup's squad, and is just an all around badass. The only similarity between him and Prowl is that they are both calm and calculating, but from what I've read, Drift isn't very grumpy.
I just like Kup because of his attitude and cigar. Excuse me, cy-gar.

Interesting. It appears I've been out of the loop for too long. I'll try and get my hands on some essential Transformers comics of the recent past. Any definite 'must-reads' I should know about, then?

In case you didn't notice, I love the All Hail Megatron, it's a four volume group. However, it takes place after the events of the Infiltration-escalation-devastation-revelation books. Those were a reboot though, so that may be why you hadn't heard of some of the characters. If you don't feel like getting the Infiltartion-revelation books, then it is all explained pretty quickly in AHM volume 2. I also heard stormbringer was pretty good.
I think AHM just ended with the new coda that came out a few weeks ago.

Yes I will be getting this or I atleast plan to as it does look like the first good Transformer game. Well atleast out of the ones I have played and seen. I ready an article about it in the 360 magazine and it looks to be shaping up to be something good.

I was at an event in London only this last weekend and I got a chance to play a demo of this game, it's really fun from what I played though I did have a couple issues with it. First off, will it all look the same or will the developers somehow make parts of cybertron look diferent. I'd hate just to be in grey for an entire game. My other problem is with the melee system, I thought it would be more than a B button thing, with a random occasional power RB attack.

Still, from what I've played it's certainly a cool game, and worth a buy if you liked gears of war.

Oh, you attended the MCM Expo? Cool. Was anything mentioned about a playable demo being made available on PSN/XBL soon?

In London yes, my friends went to play yu gi oh and I tagged along to london to see my brother and to actually see what cosplay was all about (plus I must admit, to play teh games :D:D:D)

There was no mention of it being availible soon, hell the posters around it only said "coming soon". I'd expect their will be one though, the demo I played certainly seemed self contained and finished.

I have that first 'new' transformer game in my collection after the first movie came out.
So NO, i definatly wont get this one. My childhood heroes got raped enough allready to inflict more trauma on my mental image of them.

And you're sure you won't look for a chance to mend the broken mental image of your childhood heroes? From what you're describing it appears you have the movie tie-in game for the first Bay movie, which (if memory serves) is so miserably awful I'm reluctant to even call it a game... but this one is not tied to Bay or any movie at all and was developed by a studio packed with G1 geeks, who wrote a story that impressed Hasbro so much they pronounced it the official pre-G1 canon. And then there's the fact that we're apparently dealing with gameplay proven to work in many other current-gen action titles. Doesn't all that count for something? Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to give up on something special to you because of (partially unrelated) bad past experiences.

this sounds to me like you brought the crappy movie tie in.
WFC, is NOT related to the movies or the tie in games in anyway what so ever.
I urge you to give this game a chance, it may being back that love you had for transformers.

Found something...

We should get a few more details about the demo before its release sometime shortly before E3. We certainly can't wait to get our hands on Transformers: War for Cybertron - hopefully the Demo will let us get a few players together.
Source: http://www.co-optimus.com/article/3626/Transformers__War_for_Cybertron_Preview_Through_Time_And_Space.html

If this paragraph holds true, we should be expecting a playable demo for WfC in about a week or so. What's more, it sounds like it could be an MP demo, unless it's an SP demo with full online co-op support, which I'd doubt.

To all UK Escapees: If anyone else is holding their breath desperately waiting for pre-order 'bonus character' announcements for Jazz and Shockwave (Demolisher is already announced for play.com), keep checking back here [http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/video-games-17/uk-news---war-for-cybertron-demolishor-a-playcom-exclusive-in-the-uk-169613/].

That seems to be the best updating source dedicated to revealing announcements. I'll likely post here again when I find out though anyway...
